I went away with some friends for the wknd and this one girl kept asking me things like "so when did you become a vegan?" and "is there anything here that’s vegan you can eat"? In her defense, one of the other guys with us WAS a vegan, but my god, how hard is it to keep track of the difference! Its not like she was asking him about being gluten free, in fact she kept asking us both about being vegan! Just wanted to rant :-p

I had to put up with certain close family members refusing to accept the idea that 'just a little' wouldn't hurt, or that simple basic cross-contamination issues would cause me problems. They would get angry with me when I refused to eat contaminated food. It is still kind of an issue, five years later, like as if it were all my fault. Seriously, WTF?

Nothing like a good rant first thing in the morning. :D-JoeOn Mon, Nov 8, 2010 at 6:52 AM, <TrVerb@...> wrote:

Your story reminds me of my father-in-law who keeps saying people are better off without sugar anyways; that being glucose intolerant is probably for the best.  My husband keeps correcting him that it is gluten, not glucose, but I have decided to just ignore it.  Fortunately it is only once a week or so and he doesn't keep getting in my face with stupid questions about it.  But I feel your pain.  It is very frustrating when people don't seem to really listen or care.  I am very grateful for this wonderful support group and stories like yours make me feel less alone.

Thank you
