Wow, I have some of Trader Joe's Belletoile Triple Cream Brie in my fridge to serve as an appetizer tomorrow. I could find nothing online to validate whether it's gluten free or not. Using the French I learned in high school, I emailed the Henri Hutin Charcuterie (the manufacturer) to ask. Doubt that I'll get an answer in time for Thanksgiving, but will post the response when I do.From: Tercovich <catchrenee@...> Sent: Wed, November 24, 2010 10:24:48 AMSubject: [ ] penicillium candidum

Hi Everyone,I recently bought some cheese at Trader Joe's and bought some brie and it has penicillium candidum (harmless white mold as they put it). Has anyone encountered this? And is it actually gluten free? I just have no idea.

Thoughts?Thanks,

Do you have some reason to think the cheese isn't GF? I'd be very surprised if it had gluten.

So even though the brie wasn't from traders joe's it was just sold there.  I went for it and had it last night without any reaction.  I'm still curious about this type of mold and how it is cultured, but well for that one it was just fine.
