Guest guest
Their " Gluten Free " sign hanging up on their board is a little misleading - it basically says gluten free sandwiches served on wheat free bread. Also, when they take your order, they write " multigrain " on the order slip. The sandwiches are made on Rudi's multi-grain bread, so I guess that's why they write your order up like that. Well, there was no mistaking the bread I had my sandwich on was g-f bread, that's for sure. It was so darn dry, it basically fell apart in dry, dry crumbs on the plate when I took a bite. Silly me, I wish I had asked them to warm up the sandwich. It would have tasted 100% better! They will be glad to warm up the sandwich. They need to review their g-f language when things settle down; however, I am glad that they are taking the leap to offer us g-f sandwiches! The manager even showed me the book they have regarding teaching their employees how to make the sandwiches, which even included changing gloves - so they are really trying. Guest guest
Have had two different gf experiences at 's 1. 's downtown Santa Cruz: Yes, the signage is misleading. " We now serve sandwiches on gluten free wheat bread. " The cashier was very helpful and knew about celiac disease from a friend who has it. She suggested a " hot " sandwich and checked on ingredients. The only thing that she didn't know was if the mayo and mustard in their " Goo " is gluten free. To my surprise, I was served two sandwiches because the staff feels that the bread slices are small. The REO Speedwagon was delish and I had enough for lunch the next day! 2. 's Capitola: It seemed like I must have been the first person to order a sandwich served on their GF bread. Couldn't answer any questions. I ordered a cold sandwich and the bread fell apart. I was given one serving, unlike the two I was served at the downtown SC location. I'll be sure to try another hot sandwich when I'm in downtown Santa Cruz. > > Their " Gluten Free " sign hanging up on their board is a little misleading - it basically says gluten free sandwiches served on wheat free bread.
