Currently I'm not working permanently as of yet. I hope so soon with what I have been doing to obtain it. I have successfully completed computer training where last Winter I had a difficult time doing so with having back problems for a while. I have volunteered my time at a nursing home. I visit the residents there, especially one particular lady there who I grown quite fond of and is a dear friend of mine. I'm not in charge of her, but I have alerted staff there when things aren't being taken care as far as she is concerned. I also have volunteered at two nonprofit agencies helping them with office and marketing work. I'm very active both by writing and by voice as far as issues, concerns that I have. I was interviewed and have received recognition for my being of short stature. I take pretty good care of myself, my cat Jade, where I live, my car. " Success is just not limited to employment. There are other avenues that are successful as well. " :-) Helen
Guest guest
Fred, I think you have a great idea to create a Millennium list! Perhaps when it is finished, it can be compiled and posted on a web site without identifying names associated with it. For your employment list: Ellen Fernandez- Webmaster for sburg Exponent-Telegram newspapers. You might also want to include a list of educational achievements (there may be those who have degrees but chose to be employed as homemakers....) and/or a list of kid achievements (under 18 or what-ever cut-off age you want) for parents who are unsure of what activities (sports, music, academics...) their children can participate and excel in. If you start an educational list, I'll offer my name - though today the true mark of a successful MBAer is to quit just before graduating to start their own multi-million dollar business. I got my Masters in Business Administration degree in the '80's. At the time, I was one of only a few female dwarves to do so and remember helping with workshops to encourage dwarf teens to attend college and broaden their career choices. Today, most dwarf teens (and their parents) accept college as a viable option for them and no longer regard their lives as severely limited in career choices. We have really made progress in that area! Good luck with your lists. Ellen
Guest guest
Well here's my 2 cents worth and when I finally decide what I want to be when I grow up, we'll all celebrate. I'm a certified teacher of music, speech and drama, I substitute though. I also am a professional actress, singer (coming off 3 concerts), a public historian and archivist. I also am a genealogist, tracing ones roots to the past. Last but not least, I do stunt work for children in television, stage and movies. Whew And my newest hobby, his name is Gerry. Thank you Ellen. >You might also want to include a list of educational achievements (there >may be those who have degrees but chose to be employed as homemakers....) Well, it's a good idea, and I know there are a lot of us who do have degrees etc. However, the initial idea was just a sort of roll call to show the world the contribution we make to it's wellbeing. So, for starters, I'm trying to keep it to the sort of thing as " Name, rank and number " type list. If we start adding C.V's and resumes we might end up with a book entitled " How Great we are " :-) Maybe not such a bad idea:-))) Cheers Fred

Guest guest
Does a grade in a single class count as an accomplishment? I just got a B in introductory statistics and worked my behind off to get it! I am very very happy right now...:-) -- Re: The Millennium List of Little Successes >From: " Tom Q. TQuiter@...
