Re: Lee Kitchens I too was overwhelmed with the news of Lee Kitchens passing. I attended the D5 regional last month with my son and my Mom. I felt priveleged to be able to have Mr. Kitchens in attendance. I am heavily regretting an opportunity not taken. I immediately recognized him from the LP documentary we had watched soon after my son was born. As we all hung out in the lobby, Lee mingled around both talking and offering advice to those around him. I have to chuckle at the times that Lee and my son almost had collisions as Lee road his scooter and my son road his push-trike. I had to tell , " watch out for our celebrity. " Although I was a bit star struck by his presence, I did notice that his support and leadership was admired by many. At one point, my Mom told me to ask if he'd let me take a picture of him with . I declined, thinking that I did not want to bother him. Being the (AH)Mom of a son with achondroplasia, I did not want to be the millionth person to ask his advice in raising my son. Now he is gone and I don't have the picture or memory of learning personally from his wisdom, but I know that my son will grow and learn from the many things he accomplished in his life time and from all that he brought to LPA.
