Guest guest
Another Scenerio...... List, The economy is in a recession. You just got laid off by the company that employed you. What do ya think? Sitting on the fence, reading the comments as they fly by. ------------------- I think that's what they call a " false dichotomy. " It's like asking the question, if you lose your job, what would you do? A) Kill yourself Sell your children into slavery and live off the proceeds C) Become a drug dealer D)Become a prostitute or E) work as a tossed dwarf? Oh, heck, why not throw in F) rent your belly out to one of those beasties in " Alien, " provided it pays you very handsomely for the privilege of bursting through your agonized stomach in six months' time. In reality people have a multitude of options available to them in life, especially if they prepare themselves along the way. I know a woman who had been fired from an endless number of jobs due to past bouts of alcoholism and drug abuse, but she never had to go on unemployment. Even in the midst of a drugged-out stupor, she could find a fairly decent job in a minute's notice (e.g. secretary, office manager) because she always made sure to have a minimum core set of skills that she could fall back on in an emergency. So the idea that a person only has the options of going on public assistance or being a tossed dwarf or some other dismally humiliating job, is simply not credible to me. I think it does a disservice to the multitude of dwarfs who have managed to truly excel despite debilitating physical ailments. But, for what it's worth, in response to your question, I used to clean trash for a number of years. It wasn't a bad job at all. I'd do it again in a second over being tossed around like a little toy for drunken boys.
