Guest guest
If you are referring to your post about VCO acting as pregnenolone and bringing up your own hormone levels, I didn't reply because I don't know enough to do so. I DID think it was interesting. Guess I could have posted I found it interesting, but you asked for feedback on the hormone levels, (as I read your post to say) and I have none. I would like to learn more, so if YOU get any further ideas as to whether it is really the VCO, please let us know. Guest guest
Aww! It was INDEED interesting, and I'm sure I'll go back to review it again. I wanted to reply. However, I only use VCO sparingly and organic soymilk daily. And I didn't want to instigate another rash of posts about how bad soy is. I just recently did a saliva test, and my hormones, at almost 60, are also those of a much younger woman, in spite of never taking hormone replacement therapies pushed upon me every time I see a doc! My friend, a nurse for a functional M.D., showed my test results to the M.D., and the M.D. refused to believe they were accurate. She suggested that it was probably a lab mistake. Hehe! I don't think so. I still have men in their 30's after me. And I'm not crabby. In fact, I'm more cheerful on a daily basis than ever in my life. Thank you for your post. I think it was valuable and good to know another way to preserve our youthful hormones. I love VCO and love hearing about all the good reasons to eat it. Guest guest
Hi Bonnie, I was riveted by your post! And I immediately saved it. I had/have no feedback to give you on the topic, though. Like Sol, I have no idea what my hormone levels are, other than they're definitly post meno. But your post is giving me the incentive to *remember* to take VCO when, despite my best intentions, I tend to forget it in the midst of busy days. I would love to be able to provide some positive feedback to your particular topic, if I can remember to take VCO for at least 30 days straight! Thanks a million for such a positive post! Guest guest
Hi Bonnie, I had hormone imbalance, and it caused me adult acne , i was never able to figure out the cause, i did cleansing , i eat very healthy and nothing really helped, eventually i figured it could be related to hormones. Since then i researched and i have been taking zinc supplements, most people are deficient in zinc , even if they take adequate amount, still not all of it is absorbed if taken with the wrong food like wheat products. Anyways, i take the most expensive form of zinc bound with an amino acid to enhance absorption , its called opti-zinc by green acres. Since then i havent had acne return , no mood swings around my monthly cycle, my skin looks much tighter and pores have closed, no oil production in comparison to what i used to have before. I missed one piece of info, is tarted taking saw palmetto in combination with zinc to balance my hormones, now i dont take saw palemetto as often but i do take daily zinc supplements. There are alot of herbs that balance hormone production, you just need to figure out the cause . I hope this helps . Guest guest
See my reply about saliva tests for sex hormones. I can order blood tests myself also, but the closest lab to do the draw is 170 miles away. Too far. My PA insists sex hormone testing will not tell " us " anything. She ASSUMES I'm low because I'm 20 + years post surgical menopause, and haven't taken any hormone replacement for around 15 years, except for a couple of trials. I think assuming without testing is foolish, hormones are powerful things, not to be messed with lightly. I am experimenting very cautiously. I have a saliva test report from Sept 07 but don't think it is accurate. I am unwilling to spend money on a test I consider inaccurate. sol Bonnie Cole wrote: > Sol: > Your were denied hormone testing? Why? I don't ask my dr. Guest guest
No Bonnie, thanks for asking; I don't have HIGH estrogen. The test shows that I'm all in range, with estradiol just off center to the low side, progesterone to the higher side, and testosterone right on the money. I tend to take these tests and then file them away and forget them. I think what's more reliable is how I feel. I think that women especially, over the course of scores of hormone fluctuations in their lives, get a sense of when they are in balance and when they aren't. I FEEL great! I knew my hormones were good, and the only reason I had the test was at the bidding of my nurse friend who was convinced I had low progesterone as a cause of my insomnia. (She meant well but was just going from her own experience.) I feel good, am not crabby or irritable, and have no urge to hurt anyone. Which is why I refuse the automatic assumption every medical person makes that I need hormone treatment! I don't want anything to mess with my great mood! Lordy knows I've gone through my share of blues and irritability when I was younger, and I am so done with that. Now that I have a piece of paper that confirms that I feel good and shouldn't be tinkered with, a doctor accuses the lab of making a mistake. Sheesh. Did you get your testing done from Genova Diagnostics? (formerly Great Smokies..) I think they're pretty well-known and reputable. Guest guest
After reading Bonnie's post, I got interested in learning more about hormones. People in the US have probably heard Suzanne Somers talking about her Bio-identical hormone program. I looked over her books at Amazon.com and I think the best one where she explains it is called " Ageless " . One reviewer popped up and said some of her info was not totally accurate and that he had also written a book on Bio-identical hormones. I was able to pickup Suzanne's book today at the library. These seem to be the top 2 books on this if anyone's interested. I also like the idea of taking VCO, will convert to Pregnelone, which affects all other hormones. Great to do this naturally. Guest guest
It is my strong feeling that adding hormones, even bio-identical hormones, is sure not something I want to do. The body secretes hormones when they are needed. Adding hormones from outside defeats the body's regulation system. I do have one exception to this rule. I take melatonin, mainly because I sleep days and work nights, which dirunal creatures like humans don't deal with on their own without external assistance. For the most part, I feel that diet and nutrition provide keys for hormonal balance. Nutrition is also a lot cheaper in the long run. Guest guest
Wow this is so interesting to me that this could happen from taking VCO. I¹m sorry that you are experiencing this. Dr. Lee addresses the above common assumption and says it is false. Post-meno and post surgical meno women without ovaries can be high estrogen. Makes me think he knew what he was about. The body secretes > hormones when they are needed. Only in healthy persons whose endocrine systems work properly. Some people have damaged hormone systems--thyroid glands damaged from autoimmune disease, adrenal glands that have been damaged, damaged livers from toxins, or like me, have had surgical menopause. I no longer have the organs that produce certain hormones. In which case others sometimes, but not always step in. Adrenals and fat cells can produce sex hormones, but my adrenals don't work right. I do not believe diet and nutrition alone can heal all organ damage, and they certainly are not going to regrow my uterus and ovaries. sol

Guest guest
Well, though the females might have a different story, the anti-aging DOCTORS pretty much follow Alobar's reasoning. They do not use bio- identical hormones until the patient has been on the growth hormone maintenance program for SIX MONTHS, because in six months the hormonal levels start to fall in line with youthful values unless the female has had some gland trauma or gland surgery. These doctors usually eschew hormone dosing unless without them the patient will not get well. They do so because they don't want to introduce foreign molecules into the body, much less rely on them unnecessarily for something that can be accomplished by the patient's own body as she starts to anti-age. Guest guest
Bonnie, in a lot of cases it's actually beneficial for an elder to have hormonal values that are " too high " for her age; this is what the longevity enhancement of changing your biological age is all about. In other words a 65-year old with the hormonal values of a thirty- something is no doubt closer to 30 than 65 biologically, and she will be depreciating more like a 30-something rather than like a 60- something because her hormonal values are " too high " for her age group. If you're referring to an imbalance condition though all bets are off Duncan > > > > Hello Everyone: > > > > > > > > When I write (what I feel is) an interesting email, NO ONE REPLIES. > > > > > > > > This is so weird. > > > > > > > > Bonnie > > > > > > > >
