Guest guest
Dr. Fife has given me permission to forward the email that I received from him ... in response to my questions about the VCO helping our Aspie diagnosed adult son.. Below his response is my email to him .. asking him my specific questions. Just thought there may be others here that would be interested in Dr. Fife's reply. " Hi Glory, Coconut oil can potentially be very helpful. I suggest 3 tablespoons a day with meals. One tablespoon with each meal. Use the oil in cooking as you normally do. You can also add the oil to foods that don’t normally have oil in it, such as adding it to oatmeal, soups, casseroles, hot drinks, etc. I recommend you get my book “Coconut Lover’s Cookbook” for ideas (available at www.piccadillybooks.com). You should notice improvement by simply adding the coconut oil to your son’s diet. If you want more improvement I highly recommend that you put your son on a low carb diet. This step along with the coconut oil may even cure him. Yes, I said cure. I’ve seen it in others. Your son may object if you try to change his diet immediately, however, if you do it gradually over several months, he is not likely to notice much of a change, especially if troublesome foods (sweets and refined grain products) are removed from the house. Best wishes, Bruce Fife " Subject: VCO Possibly Help Asperger's Adult? Hello Dr. Fife, I have just recently read your book " The Coconut Oil Miracle " and have begun adding VCO into my diet. While I haven't been on it long, I believe I am starting to see some health benefits! If you should have a moment to answer, I am hoping you might answer a question. We have a 28 year old adult son who was only just recently diagnosed with Asperger's. He has struggled very much throughout his life. Our son is still living with us and very dependent on us. I have read an account of a boy, whose mother put him on VCO in conjuction with the " special diet " that they so often put autistic children on. Considering the fact that our son is 28 and will not in any way, shape or form eat that " special diet " , I am wondering if the VCO alone might help him? I believe that I could probably start using the VCO in my cooking and baking, without him even realizing it. I guess I am curious as to if you have ever heard of adults on the autistic spectrum benefitting from just the VCO. Thanks in advance for your reply. Anyway, when he was younger she gave hime 1 teaspoon every mealtime...now she does not measure it anymore but she estimates it to be 3 to 5 tablespoons a day. Guest guest
I do wish he had a bunch of references to research in his letter. While I think coconut oil is a very good food, I do not see how it can " cure " or even help someone with Asperger's syndrome.
