Guest guest
As some of you know, Hallie Dolcourt was a volunteer hostess for the O'Dough's GF bread table at the Gluten Free Fair in Benicia a week ago last Sunday. A lot of people that sampled the O'Dough's bread really loved it. But at that time we knew of only there places to buy it: (1) the O'Dough's website, (2) Wisconsin/Illinois, and (3) and we heard Miglet's in Danville carries some of the products. Sprouts in Sunnyvale now carries some of the products that we sampled in Benicia: white bread, flax buns, and breakfast buns, and some form of cake (can't remember the flavor, but unfortunately not the chocolate cake which was really good). O'Dough's is on 25% discount at Sprouts for about the next week, along with Sprouts other GF items. Prices for O'Dough's range from about $4.50 to $6.50. Note: O'Dough's comes in from Canada. How does O'Dough's differ from, say, Udi's? They are very different. Udi's has big holes and is fluffy. O'Dough's is " more meaty. " The holes are smaller, and the bread has a definite flavor, while Udi's has less flavor. I compared the two while I was in Benicia. Interestingly, O'Dough's white bread is soft at room temperature. Although it should be stored frozen, we have a loaf in the fridge and it makes good sandwiches when the bread warms room temperature. It also doesn't crumble excessively and is not gummy in the least. This is not a sales pitch for any particular manufacturer. People are going to prefer one style of bread or another. Kids are probably going to like the taste of Udi's the best. Udi's is also on a 24% off sale at Sprouts, and they have a big freezer case full of it.
