Guest guest
I was just reading something the other day on this.... People who have Parkinson’s disease often have low levels of folic acid in their blood, but it is not clear whether this a result of the disease process or if they are simply malnourished due to their illness. But based on this study, Dr. Mattson speculates that consuming adequate amounts of folic acid—either in the diet or by supplementation—could help protect the aging brain against Parkinson’s and other neuro-degenerative diseases. Green leafy vegetables, citrus fruits and juices, whole wheat bread and dry beans are good sources of the vitamin. Also, Pau d' Arco is an adaptogen, alterative, antifungal, antimicrobial, antiviral, and blood purifier. From Herbal Descriptions by Truman Berst: PAU D'ARCO (Tabebuia impetiginosa) It has been used as a panacea in South America for centuries. It was used by the ancient Aztecs and the Incas as one of their major medicinal herbs. Dr. Theodoro Meyer, an award winning botanist from Argentina, died in 1972 after years of frustrating attempts to convince the scientific world of the great value of Pau d'arco. Research has shown that it contains a natural antibacterial agent, has a healing effect on the entire body, cleanses the blood, and kills viruses. It builds the immune system and nerves, and increases resistance to disease. It is used for AIDS, allergies, all infections and inflammations, anemia, asthma, arthritis, arteriosclerosis, as a blood builder, bronchitis, all types of cancer, candidiasis, colitis, cystitis, smoker's cough, diabetes, eczema, paralysis of the eyelids, fistulas, gastritis, gonorrhea, hemorrhages, hernias, Hodgkins' disease, liver disease, leukemia, lupus, malaria, multiple sclerosis, nephritis, osteomyelitis, pain, Parkinsons' disease, polyps, prostatitis, psoriasis, pyorrhea, rheumatism, ringworm, skin cancer, skin sores, spleen infections, snake bites, ulcers including varicose ulcers, varicose veins, warts, wounds. I would definitely think about a cleanse now... and a good diet program . Don is asleep now but will probably add to this in the am. The good news is I am in the very early stages of the Disease and the doctor doesn't feel it's necessary to give me any additional medication at this time. He said continue with the same meds, but I did not mention I was going the herbal route. I recently purchased Dr. 's Nerve Formula Relax Ease from Herbs First. Hope it comes soon, can't wait to try it out. Hope it works. Thanks for listening, Anne
Guest guest
Geir, My husband, diagnosed with Parkinsons 2 1/2 years ago, has been on LDN for a year and a half. When he went on LDN, he was able to go from 2 Sinemet a day down to 1 with no loss of function. His Parkinsons has not seemed to have progressed in the last year and a half.
