Guest guest
Southern Herb catalog sells a book called Alzheimer's Science and God written by Haana Kroeger cost is only $.75 and although it is little, it is full of helpful information. 1-800-795-0338 is there number. This gives you places to look besides the obvious Aluminum and heavy metals. Guest guest
I just received a letter from a physician in Florida, which I would like to share with the Forum. The letter is long and somewhat technical, so I will give just a summary. This physician's husband has been suffering for the past five years with Alzheimer's disease. His condition has gotten considerably worse over the past year and is moderately severe. He lives at home with his wife, who looks after him. In an effort to find a solution, she has been investigating experimental studies with some new drugs and considering having him participate in the studies. Preliminary results with other subjects using one of the drugs have shown phenomenal results. The name of the drug is Ketasyn. On investigation of the drug she learned that the active ingredient in this drug is MCT oil, which is derived from coconut oil. Instead of using the drug, she began giving her husband 7.5 teaspoons of coconut oil daily. That is equivalent to about 2.5 tablespoons, about the amount I recommend in my books as a maintenance dose. She reports that in a matter of just a few days the improvement in her husband's mental ability has been remarkable. The improvement is far beyond any drug currently on the market to treat Alzheimer's. According to the research on MCT oil produced by the makers of the drug, it is not only helpful for Alzheimer's but many other forms of neurological damage including Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, and epilepsy. I would add autism to the list as well. I am in the process of writing an article for my Healthy Ways Newsletter giving the details of the above story and another remarkable story about a mother who " cured " her son of autism using coconut oil. The newsletter will be sent out about the first of July. Bruce
Guest guest
Good news that coconut oil " might " be the " cure " for alzheimer's but did you check first to make sure that this husband was not on other drugs like Lipitor (statins)? Statins deplete the brain of cholesterol and can actually cause alzheimer's and Parkinsons. If I were you, I would check to make sure that her husband IS NOT on any drugs first. phine > > > I just received a letter from a physician in Florida, which I would like > to share with the Forum. Guest guest
This whole drug thing........is so mind boggling. I do believe most of what I read about the " big pharma " etc, and its so scary. I am 52 and so far my husband and I have not had to go on any drugs. My 85 yr old father is on aprox 9 meds, and some have been on for at least 25 years. He is in mid stages of alzheimers and I can see pattern here, reading Dr. Fife's letter, his books, as well as from the water cure books. He fits the pattern so well. My mom has had him on a very low fat diet for 25 years. He drinks very little water, enough to swallow his pills. I know I could never get them to eat coconut oil. It took years to get them off margarine and back to butter. He has been fighting dry eye for a while now, and I am sure its his dehydration as well as these drugs. Our own doctors and medical establishment are actually doing this to us. How can they be so blind????? Just ranting! Want to say I appreciate the work you have done, Dr. Fife. Guest guest
Well, it's an easy enough experiment. Not that it relates to iodine. Alzheimer's is almost unknown in some countries, notably India. Researchers have tried to figure out what is different about India, and they came up with turmeric, which does indeed affect the brain in interesting ways (it makes college students do better on tests, even though presumably they do not have Alzheimers!). Folks in India eat a LOT of turmeric. They are putting out a lot of programmers too, which makes me think in general they have good brain health. Anyway, we have added turmeric to most of our foods. Tastes good at any rate! And does not seem to cause harm, except that it makes everything very yellow. It's cheap in bulk. I don't know though, that coconut oil is eaten throughout India. Seems like ghee is more common. Also they do have a high incidence of goiter, so I don't think they get enough iodine either. It would be interesting if lots of folks on the Web tested this, maybe with loved ones who have mild problems. See what works! Guest guest
Dear Bruce, Thanks for sharing with us that information you received recently from a physician treatingan Alzheimer's patient. This is a breaking news, I believe. So, is it the lauric acid /monolaurin effect or the one of the coconut oil as a whole with the balanced content of other fatty acids (saturated and unsaturated FAs). I'm lookign forward to receive the coming issue of the newsletter, covering other diseases cured by the coconut oil or cno-based drugs. Best regards and GOD Bless ! Guest guest
Sev, It is not the Lauric acid specifically that protects neurons or brain cells, it's all the medium chain fatty acids in coconut oil. Basically what happens is that the neurons become insulin resistant and cannot get adequate amounts of glucose and, therefore, begin to degenerate and die. However, medium chain fatty acids can enter nerve cells without the aid of insulin. Like glucose, medium chain fatty acids can be utilized by brain and nerve cells to produce energy. Therefore, medium chain fatty acids feed the brain cells and keep them alive and active even in a state of insulin resistance. This may also be the reason why coconut oil has been so effective in reversing diabetic neuropathy. Guest guest
Does the coconut oil need to be taken as is, like off the spoon, or in a smoothie to work? I can't take it that way and so use it for cooking, in soups, on vegetables, rice. I also make popcorn with it and the oil gets quite hot; so does that harm the healthy qualities in the oil because someone said that when it is being made originally it is better to not use any heat in the process. Guest guest
Due to the success I've had on alzheimers, without using coconut oil, I'd suspect that the growth hormone increase would have played a part. My method employed undenatured whey, SomaLife gHP, lecithin and cod-liver oil, to supply ingredients that stop damage, increase repair, and feed the cells their essential nutrients so they don't die and tissues don't waste so fast. SomaLife gHP is the component that increases HGH and thus repair, somewhat like coconut oil but much stronger, more like maxing out one's HGH release. This method has also reversed another fatal wasting disorder, inclusion body myositis. It is posted as the first link on my website: http://members.shaw.ca/duncancrow Duncan In Coconut Oil , " Bruce Fife " <bruce@...> wrote: > > Sev, > > It is not the Lauric acid specifically that protects neurons or brain > cells, it's all the medium chain fatty acids in coconut oil.
