Guest guest
Hi . I have 2 autistic boys. Have her get some melatonin from the health food store. You crush the tablet and put it in juice 1/2-1 hour before bedtime. These children lack some channels from body to brain that affect seratonin secretion. Also I would highly reccomend a liquid source of vitamin A, omega 3, a good all natural multi, and beneficial bacteria supplement. Does he have any digestive problems yet? Also, very important for the parents to stay in touch with other parents with autistic children. I can't stress this one enough. He apparently has been using a tea blend containing Valerian to address insomnia, but I am not crazy about him using it nightly. Better than the synthetic version of course and yet still so powerfully sedative. Does anyone have a favorite calming herbal tea blend they use with a child of this age successfully- especially with autism? First hand experience please. Thanks~Whole Life Essentials.Outstanding Organic Essential oils & Productshttp://www.WholeLifeEssentials.com
Guest guest
The melatonin I used for around a month or so and they started to get into sleep rythyms themselves. Now you will have to give every once in a while after as they go through regressions now and then. As far as teas and tinctures. I have used feverfew for 's digestive problem believe it or not and he has been good since. It is for when their digestive tract is going too fast, lots of diarrhea, lack of appetite, etc. I keep catnip and peppermint around and make sun tea with it. This is good for soothing and calming without making them tired so they can't play. was and is a work in progress lol. Poor little guy has had every problem he can have. His digestion is severely affected. It is extremely sluggish. Aloe vera in juice works for him and heals up any sores he may have in his belly. When his appetite lags or becomes to focused on one food group, dandelion leaf is what I use. Luckily I can get fresh young leaves again now because he is getting real bad about eating right. They both like smelling lavender and I do use lotion and powder I made after their baths with lavender and chammomile in it. Seems to help a lot and just makes them happy. I'd love to get a diffuser some day for EO's. The digestive support is crucial because these children retain huge amounts of mercury in their guts. They simply can't get rid of heavy metals as efficiently as we do. Do make the cilantro pesto and just drop it in their favorite soup or sauce once in a while. Some children have been found to have live measles virus living in their digestive tract as well. A gift from the vaccines they receive Let me know if there is a specific problem with him, and I will do my best to help out. JanetHi Janet,She is already doing all the nutritional stuff but I had not thought of Melatonin. Good idea. I like the sublingual and think it might be good. I am not crazy about using it regulary- but it sounds like you have been pleased over time. Do you have a favorite herbal formula/ tea for them?
