Guest guest
I am diabetic who controls blood glucose thru diet and supplements (no drugs). I find that coconut oil helps me control blood sugars quite well. For the most part, I stay away from carbs, whether high glycemic index or low, so I do not use coconut flour. So I can't comment on the flour. Alobar On 10/4/06, icuplaynow <jo-jimochs@...> wrote: > I have posted wrong , by answering someone else with my own post . must > be why no one answers me . Guest guest
Hello: I'm answering your post with my own post. I hope you receive it. Perhaps Dr. Bruce will read this and advise you. I am also Type 2 and found VCO contolled my blood sugar very nicely even when I ate a fair bit of food, so I don't understand why you're having difficulties. Unfortunately I couldn't sleep so had to back off. You can get all you need if you drink enough of the Coconut Milk. 1 cup of Coconut Milk (right from the can) is equal to 2 tbsp. of the Oil. Since it is recommended that we ingest 4 tbsp. daily, 2 cups of the Coconut Milk should do it, right? Perhaps you can regulate your blood sugar better by just drinking Coconut Milk and forget the oil. Bonnie Hi Blood sugars I have posted wrong , by answering someone else with my own post . must be why no one answers me . What is wrong with me getting high readings when I take CO or coconut flour items ? So far it seems coconut milk is OK .I am type 2 and I am losing a little weight , thats what makes me want to keep using the CO . I take my CO in my organic oatmeal or stir fry veggies . I am health conscious and take lots of supplemnets including cinnamon, chromium etc ..

I've also had half my vco quota for the day. There was a deal buy 2 get one free in the supermarket. I have never tried it before and loved it, going to make a lovely curry with it. I think i will use it in my porridge instead of the oil as it makes it too greasy. Thanks for the info even if it was sent to someone else. Guest guest
I think it is way more expensive to get all the CO from just the milk . I dilute 1 can with 1 can of water as it is , but mainly because it's so thick and after diluting it it still thickens again , I sure like it tho and for the person who thinks the cans are so little I feel 14 oz cans are perfect as it is only good for 3-4 days and thats exactly how long mine last me .I like the CO best becdause you can throw some into anything hot and I give the dogs each their own spoonful every day , their coats a re beautiful now . --------- Hi Blood sugars I have posted wrong , by answering someone else with my own post . must be why no one answers me . Guest guest
you blow me away ! I am reading a diary of almost my own life since finding I have diabetes 5 yr ago.. searching always searching for what will help and asking and reading queations .. came to almost all of your same conclusions . exception of two things I never heard of inulin and another long one ..I tried to comment but couldn't make it work .. I want to commnet about fenugreek ( I am trying to take as much supplemnts in powder form because of already taking so many caps and tabs ) I found a easier way and cheaper way to take the fenugreek . I buy the seeds and soak a tsp or two overnight then take them the next day . they were to hard to grind , I get the seeds for $3.20 a lb. Also MSM in powder form is easy to take and I add my flax seed ground up in a coffee grinder with it , flax seed is way cheaper way to get the owegas and also get the bulk fiber . But only get GOLDEN flax seed .teh brown is not for humans. I hope we can stay in touch about all this .. I finally am getting some low readings but have cut carbs so much it hurts LOl stepped up excerise . I am going to try again taking CO and see if they go up again . -------------- Original message -------------- From: Alobar <Alobar@...> I take many supplements. Guest guest
Brown flax is not for humans? I'd be interested to read your research about that. Never heard that, I grind my own brown flax seeds and use them in smoothies all the time. By cutting carbs, do you mean you're cutting mainly white carbs, or veggies, too? Cutting carbs may keep blood sugar low, but a truly healthy diet has got to include mostly raw fruits and veggies. I've read about diabetics starting a completely RAW fruit, veggie, and grain diet, and being cured within a few weeks. - On 10/7/06, jo-jimochs@... <jo-jimochs@...> wrote: > > you blow me away ! Guest guest
Benfotiamine I get from http://www.benfotiamine.net/. Single bottle are expensive but I buy in quantity when I have the cash to save money. I use Lugols on my gums because I have rotten teeth from years of bad eating. Lugol's keep my gums healthy. I have heard good things about Puritan's Pride but have not yet ordered from them. I buy many supplements from both http://www.vitaglo.com/ and from http://store.ourhealthcoop.com/category_s/17.htm Alobar On 10/7/06, jo-jimochs@... <jo-jimochs@...> wrote: > Benfotiamine is the other one I don't know about also do not know where to get it . Guest guest
I turned off comments from people not on LiveJournal because I was getting spammers posting advertizing. I prefer capsules for fenulgreek because it is less work than soaking and grinding the seeds. Inulin is a reaaly useful form of fiber which is food for the gut flora we want to cultivate. See info here: http://members.shaw.ca/duncancrow/inulin_prebiotic_probiotic.html Alobar On 10/7/06, jo-jimochs@... <jo-jimochs@...> wrote: > you blow me away ! Guest guest
, high-carb foods include all gains of all colors, some veggies and most fruits. Yams, sweet potatoes, potatoes, corn, ALL GRAINS and products made from them, ALL DIGESTIBLE SUGAR and most fruit are unfortunately on the hit list. Even low glycemic foods like oatmeal, brown rice, whole grains including spelt, quinoa. Think of bowel dysbiosis and candida as well as glycation and diabetes. Diabetics often nurture bowel candida, which REQUIRES the insufficient acidity natural to bowel dysbiosis as a prequisiste to getting established. The best diet for anyone is NOT a diabetic diet anyway but a comparatively strict anti-candida diet, one that does not allow brown rice or other high-carb foods. Guest guest
Sally, I have replaced ordinary milk in my diet with coconut milk. I don't get the kind that has any additives at all, not even water. The Ayam brand is the easiest to get here (Australia)but in the country you can't always get what you want when you want it. At first I could never find just the coconut milk, just coconut cream, which is what I bought, and was quite thick and expensive. Then the store started stocking Ayam coconut milk, which is thinner and cheaper, but still has no additives. Every now and then they have it on special offer, and I stock up then. Are there side effects? Well, I smell of coconut milk. It reminds me of Singapore. I don't know whether that might be because they use a lot of coconut in their diet or cooking there, or because I was staying in Joo Chiat, which used to be a coconut plantation. A little stream or ditch ran through one part of the street, and the smell was really strong there. It made me wonder whether there is something in the soil that stays after the coconut groves have gone, or whether it's a hot country thing. Guest guest
There are so many things which can cause problems for diabetics. One has to hunt around to find out the details. Niacin makes blood glucose readings go up, but Niacinamide does not. Beta Carotene supplementation can also cause problems, but Vitamin A does not.
