From everything I have read and researched MSG is GF, do you know otherwise? On Oct 25, 2010, at 8:21 AM, natasha.loefflerlittle wrote:

Something I have not seen brought up in this string is the cross contamination from the egg pho noodles - typically they have a big vat of the delicious broth and they boil the noodles in the same water and add to the bowl with broth. So while the rice noodles are ok, there still seems to be some situation where we are getting some cross contamination.

Has anyone thought about this? Talked to the restaurant about preparation and successfully not gotten sick?

Along the same lines if you have someone who understood this AND doesn't use MSG - LOVELY!

Thanks!

From my understanding, some people have issues with MSG while others don't. I've always had issues with MSG, even long before getting diagnosed with gluten intolerance. My wife tells me that I'm best served by not going to a pho house. Too bad, because I love pho. I'll have to learn how to make it at home.

I've had good luck at Pho Hoa in Mountain View. According to their company's website and the restaurant, the noodles are cooked in separate water and they don't use MSG. I ate at a local place in Redwood City and got the worst MSG fog ever. I also really love the lemongrass pork chop at Pho Hoa. Jasmine
