Guest guest
There is indeed saturated fat in coconut oil- the difference is that is the medium chained variety- not the same at all as the other saturated fats. Medium chains metabolize as energy not fat. http://www.mercola.com/2003/sep/13/coconut_oil.htm Keep in mind that we have all been LIED to for over 50 yrs- its going to take at least that long to dispell those myths so just stick to your guns and keep on pluggin. zoe > Someone was trying to tell me that coconut oil contains saturated fat > and that it was just as bad for you as other saturated fats. Guest guest
Read Bruce Fife's book " The Coconut Oil Miracle " That tells all very clearly. Cheers, Doug Saturated Fat in Coconut Oil Someone was trying to tell me that coconut oil contains saturated fat and that it was just as bad for you as other saturated fats. I did see some studies that were saying that the fat in coconut oil is not the same as other saturated fats and was actually good for you. I can no longer find these studies. Can anyone point me to where I can find them? Thanks, Mark

Guest guest
Hi Another great resources is the Weston-Price Org. This article is long but will tell everything you need to know: http://www.westonaprice.org/knowyourfats/skinny.html Another page on their web site, full of information on fats: http://www.westonaprice.org/knowyourfats/index.html When you would have read the articles the conclusion would come quite clear: Saturated Fats are not the problems .. BAD fat, Hydrogenated Oils are: Virtually ALL Vegetable Oils you want to think of are hydrogenated. Virgin Coconut Oil, Virgin Palm Kernel or Cold Pressed Olive Oil are not Hydrogenated... Guest guest
Yes, its an excellent book! I¹m a little over half way through right now. I¹m so impressed with how he backs everything up so well! chantelle Ps-actually, I realized after I wrote this, that I am reading one of his other books ³Eat Fat, Look Thin². It also tells many studies and is very well supported. Guest guest
Dear Mark, Here is a link to a few links which might interest you: http://www.fair-and-healthy.com/blog/2008/01/26/still-something-on-vco-virgin-co\ conut-oil/ VCO is an all-purpose oil. I use it for cooking and baking. With me having a highly sensitive digestive system and a weak heart, basically, I cannot take any other oil except VCO & olive oil. Our old dog Sammy takes it as a supplement, so do many of our friends.
