Guest guest
speaking of coconut water.........I have a friend we want to try this on. Can I just use a coconut from the co-op? Hopefully organic? But who knows how old it is. Or do I need to find a young one? Jeanne www.rachelsvinyard.org
Guest guest
I think it has to be a young coconut not the hairy hard shell kind. But you should be able to find one at a co-op. Guest guest
At this time I don't even know if I can get CW here in Sweden - I have been searching the net to no avail and as it is Easter everything is closed so I can't check out the ethnic stores yet either. However as a newbie to the 'tree of life' I am trying to find out as much as I can. It would be wonderful for me if there were benefits to be had by using a CW eye wash. For years I have had trouble with my eyes. The Doctors say it is a question of heredity, the symptoms are bllod shot eyes, sensitivity to light, dryness at night leading to pain, and runny eyes at other times. At the moment I spend a fortune on 'false tears' and that doesn't help much. If I find CW here - are there any specifications I should be looking for, or any types or versions to be avoided. Thank you KJ Ligia Lepe wrote: > Thank you for the info. > > I would like to know more about the uses and benefits of the coconut > water. Guest guest
KJ, you might want to look into using VCO for your eyes. It has been my first aid to any irritations on my eyes, and I used it once successfully to stop the onset of sore eyes. I think Murray, a member of this list, uses VCO also for his eye dryness and irritation. If you try this, I suggest you use a VCO with zero peroxide value, and well as low acid value (in terms of free fatty acod content). Guest guest
Thanks I do not have any visible indication of cataracts. I was asking for a friend, whose mother in the Philippines has cataracts and serious diabetes. I have been using VCO, 3 drops in each eye, nightly to overcome my serious dry eye problems related to working 40+ years in polluted Pulp and Paper Mills. Results over the past year have been phenomenal. Cheers, Doug Re: Coconut Water for Cataracts > > I remember seeing something about the effect of fresh coconut water > on cataracts. Does anyone have any information about using the > water to prevent or treat cataracts. " A Traditional method for treating cataract involves the use of coconut water. Several drops of coconut water are put into the eyes, a hot damp washcloth is placed over the eyes, the patient then lies down with the washcloth in place for 10 minutes. I know of people getting good results with this procedure. Perhaps part of the reason it may work is due to the antioxidant effect of coconut water. Cataracts are caused by oxidation so the antioxidant effect of the water might be of some help. " p.148, Coconut Cures, Bruce Fife > Also is there any info about the effect of VCO on cataracts. Couldn't find anything about this. Heard B2 is good though. -vanessa .... may need this information one day
Guest guest
Dear Karl, Greetings from the Philippines ! I convey my empathy on your eye problem for years. We know men are not God, hence not perfect or does not have always the remedy to human imperfections, inherited or acquired. This situation could be true to physicians you've consulted in your case. Do you get me right ? Talking about coconut ----- the tree-of-life which produces the nut which has one of the highest natural lauric fatty acid (C12), medium chain triglyceride that is naturally saturated, stable, healthy for both topical use and ingestion. Current knowledge strongly indicates that the oil is antimicrobial, meaning the organic and healthy virgin coconut oil or VCO (extracted from the nut's freshmeat via the coconut milk (pure cream and water-diluted cream) effectively controls virus, bacteria, fungus and pathogenic yeast. Dr Bruce Fife, N.D. (c/obruce@... should be consulted to confirm this position on the matter, if you wish. Thus, if I may suggest, why not try on your problematic eyes the VCO ( most likely this now available in your place if not I understand there are outlets in the U.K. as VCO has become popular in recent years. The coconut milk may not have an immediate effect as the lauric acid in the milk will have to converted to the monolaurin yet to be effective. Initially, few drops, then later increase the daily application as deemed applicable for you. Well, before you try my suggestion, don't fail to contact Dr Fife and others to give you higher confidence on the matter. All the best and God Bless ! Guest guest
Tony, Thank you for your response. Until such time as I can import directly from you, you may recall that the only VCO I can get here is the USD 30 for a 500ml jar. I have mailed the importer/agent of this product called 'Cocosa' to ask them about the peroxide and acidic values though it would not surprise me if I don't get a straight answer. However, it appears that several people on the list are in fact using VCO drops in their eyes without harm, yourself included. The CO I have at the moment is solid even in room temperature (19c) here, though I suppose a gentle heated water bath would liquefy it to enable the application of drops, (Maybe the VCO is better). So, when the shops open again tomorrow I will purchase a jar of the expensive stuff. So, what do you suggest, a couple of drops per eye every evening, more often perhaps? I would like to let you know that there is a nutritional eyedrop my mum uses for her cataracts..she does take VCO though internally.. these drops are called revital - eyes. see www.ethos-success. com we order one box and it lasts her about 5 weeks. They make it for pets too! thanks ajd
Guest guest
Bob I beg your pardon. I automatically assumed that as this list is entitled 'coconut oil open forum', that the discussion so far involved using coconut product as eye drops, and that the product you mentioned was co -sop (as you originally described it) the 'co' was for me indicative of coconut - as in co-conut. So I was trying to understand the coconut or 'tree of life' connection. Of course I have never heard of cocopt but I am very pleased that your wife is gaining benefit from it. I hope in my ignorance that I haven't caused you any embarrassment. Best wishes KJ Ratliff wrote: > I did not say there was any connection to tree of life. Guest guest
Actually there is no such thing as virgin coconut oil. It is a term taken from olive oil. Virgin olive oil is the first press of oil. Coconut oil has only one press. It is marketing hype. bob Re: Coconut Water for Cataracts > > Just in case the coconut oil does not do the job for > cataracts. > > I would like to let you know that there is a nutritional eyedrop my mum > uses for her cataracts..she does take VCO though internally.. > > these drops are called revital - eyes. > > see www.ethos-success. com > > we order one box and it lasts her about 5 weeks. > > They make it for pets too! > > thanks > > ajd > >
Guest guest
Karl I, to, have had serious dry eye problems for many, many years, resulting from working, since 1957 in badly polluted working environments, primarily cooking, bleaching and chemical generating and recovery sections of kraft pulpmills. Some morning my eyelids would be glued to my eyeballs as with super glue. After many years of trial and error I tried VCO. What an amazing relief. 3 props in each eye literally eliminated the problem over a year ago. Now I can even miss using it a night here and there without much discomfort. Cheers.Doug Re: Re: Coconut Water for Cataracts > At this time I don't even know if I can get CW here in Sweden - I have > been searching the net to no avail and as it is Easter everything is > closed so I can't check out the ethnic stores yet either. Guest guest
I think what you mean here is that there is no such thing as " Extra Virgin " coconut oil. At least this is what i have found through all my research is that coconut oil can be " virgin " but NOT " extra virgin " ..that was a phrased borrowed from Olive Oil. Have I run accrossed incorrect information here? >>>Actually there is no such thing as virgin coconut oil. It is a term taken
Guest guest
Re: Coconut Water for Cataracts Hi When you speak of putting VCO drops in your eyes, how do you handle the VCO in the cold weather? Read below. Do you keep some heated, so that you can use it in a dropper? Put solid coconut oil on you body and it melts. Very simple really. Does the VCO have any contra-indications with other homeopathic and/or allopathic drops that are being used? no Does the VCO blurr your vision no so that you use them only when sleeping? Or, can you use them in the AM before you start your day? Thanks for your help. Guest guest
Re: Coconut Water for Cataracts Hi Doug, <When you speak of putting VCO drops in your eyes, how do you handle the VCO in the cold weather? Do you keep some heated, so that you can use it in a dropper? I always carry a dropper bottle (2 oz) in my pocket as I use it in my coffee and tea and the pocket is warm enough. <Does the VCO have any contra-indications with other homeopathic and/or allopathic drops that are being used? I have no idea as I have not used any chemical drugs/medicines/OTC since '1977. Not even an asprin. Someone else may be able to answer your question but my feeling is that there would be no problem. <Does the VCO blurr your vision so that you use them only when sleeping? Or, can you use them in the AM before you start your day? I only use them atnight as the only time I have a problem is the glued effect on waking. After risi8ng I have to wash/flush out the oil slick which does have a slight blurring effect. <Thanks for your help. You are welcome. Always glad to help spread the good, natural treatments word. Guest guest
Some manufacturers use " Extra Virgin " to mean non-use of heat in extracting VCO from coconut meat (others use " A No Heat " (ANH) to mean this). I use it to mean non-use of heat and high freshness standard. I think others use " Extra Virgin " to boost marketability of the product. If you find the phrase in the product you are to buy, I think it is good to find out why. Guest guest
KJ, I suggest you do not use your CO for this, it might be RBD. Still, I wont use a VCO on my eyes if I have no idea of its peroxide value. Regarding how to use it, I might start putting one drop on each eye at least an hour before bed, and if result is okay, I will add another drop before going to bed. Tony Karl Järnhammer <jernhammer@...> wrote: Tony, Thank you for your response. Best wishes KJ AGPacific Nutriceutical wrote: > KJ, you might want to look into using VCO for your eyes. > > Tony > > Karl Järnhammer <jernhammer@...> wrote: > At this time I don't even know if I can get CW here in Sweden - I have > been searching the net to no avail and as it is Easter everything is > closed so I can't check out the ethnic stores yet either. Guest guest
Im just guessing , but I dont think you would get the same effect from canned or processed coconut water. Heating done in the pasturization or canning process would destroy alot of the natural enzymes .I beleive those enzymes are a large part of the healing property for the eye treatment .But like I said Its a guess. However if the coconut water has been processed so it wont spoil then it is probably safe to put in your eye and If I had a cateract I would give it a try.It might help. If you use coconut water from a container, will it hurt you? I have been reluctant to try it as the stories refer to fresh, i.e. straight out of a green coconut.
