Guest guest
You left out turkey, and most commercial grocery store beef. And any processed food that contains carrageenan or one of the algins. This can include all raw poultry that contains " xx % of a solution " as carrageenan can be added under that umbrella label without being specified. Of course " high " is relative. The only ocean seafood I can eat is oysters. Weird, but oysters have FAR less iodine than asparagus. Also, just a tidbit FWIW, " vegetarian " fed chickens that produce " vegetarian " fed egg get oyster shell in their feed. So not really vegetarian in my book. I'm not specifically sure about Egglund brand, but you might want to check with the producer. The " vegetarian " eggs available where I live are all from hens that get oyster shell. Another tiny quibble I can't resist--only some mushrooms are high in iodine, not all. Problem there is no way to tell which ones are which. Even some farmed fresh water fish are now " high " in iodine due to being fed kelp meal or crushed shrimp shells or meal from salt water fish, or some damn thing. Makes my life difficult. It is much, much harder to avoid iodine than it was 23 years ago. sol jaxxon2003 wrote: > Hi Chantelle, > I use Egglund's vegetarian fed eggs, as each egg provides 40% of daily > iodine (two eggs=80%). Guest guest
Another good source of iodine is the sushi wrapper " NORI " made of seaweed. One sheet is more than enough for the day. My docs stopped me from taking a 3mg iodine pill and tyrosine pill from a health food store as i felt so sluggish and depressed for no reason. Two days after i stopped i was ok. But this morning i again could not get out of bed and felt so very tired and sleepy. I took one Nori sheet (slightly heated in toaster oven, do not scorch) and in minutes i am ok. Guest guest
I thought I was the only one who are nori for the iodine! I get the purest ones I can find from the international market and eat a couple of them a day as a snack. I think it has helped with weight stabilization and maintenance.
