Hi everyone,

I used to buy a soy free soy sauce at my WF, but they have discontinued

it & I don't have the bottle. It's not the coconut amino acid one that

is presently on the shelves.

Does anyone remember the name of it & who makes it? I need to ask them

to reorder.

I would suggest using caution when purchasing 'black bean sauce' for a soy-free

diet. I read somewhere, no I don't remember where!, that this is actually soy.

The 'black beans' are dark variety of soy beans?

Maybe this is incorrect, but if you're made ill by soy please be careful.

Hi everyone

I, too, loved this soy free, GF sauce. I just called Yin and they told me that

they've totally discontinued this item due to a conflict they had with their

partner who made the sauce. They're looking to see if they can find another

source and/or find a way to get along with the fellow who previously was their

partner.

I will second this information regarding " black beans " in Chinese cuisine. I am

a student of Traditional Chinese Medicine and I know that what is generally

translated as " black beans " means black *soy* beans - a variety of soy beans. In

our Materia Medica they are referred to as " dan dou chi " and are indeed Semen

Praeparatum Sojae (Latin is helpful).

Joe is correct in his translation, and if you follow the translation on this

website, they clearly identify it as black soybean.

I'm soy intolerant and was sad to find out this little fact as I loved fermented

black bean sauce. Alas.....
