Guest guest
Mariposa is entirely gluten free and their products are made in a gf facility. A look around their website doesn't show anything called "rye" bread. Is your mil thinking of the "multigrain" bread? In any case, I am sure Mariposa does not include rye in any of their products. Sent from my tin can and string. Please excuse mumbling and static. -----Original Message----- From: Cara <cara@...> Sent: Sat, Oct 30, 2010 9:11 am Subject: [ ] Rye in Mariposa Hi Everyone – My mother in law lives near Oakland and offered to pick up some Mariposa bread for us. She then very excitedly said she would bring over a new ‘rye’ bread made by Mariposa. Can anyone confirm what they are using in this new bread? I am assuming it is a bread that tasted like rye but with different grains? Any ideas? This of course was all a great reminder of how we need to carefully monitor what our kids are fed down to the tiniest ingredient….even when we think someone fully understands their condition there are oversights. This one is puzzling because my MIL is also GF and so often talks about avoiding wheat, barley, rye and oats. Conformations on Mariposa would be great. Thank you, Cara
Guest guest
They actually have a gluten free bread that I've bought at the bakery that tastes just like rye bread. My family is gluten free, but I'm not. I've eaten the mariposa mock rye bread within 24 hours of eating "real" rye bread and was amazed at how spot-on the flavor was. Guest guest
It should probably be called " caraway bread " . Most gluten rye breads are really a mix of wheat and some rye with the seasoning being caraway seeds. Some that are dark have molasses in them. I do love the Mariposa " rye " but I'd love some that is molasses and caraway - that would be very good with my favorite pickled herring!
