Guest guest
http://www.quackwatch.org/11Ind/young.html I certainly don't believe all quackwatch info is accurate or true, but I've never seen a credible refutation of their info re Young. In fact the only refutation I got at all when discussing the quackwatch claims re Young online was from a woman who said she believed in YL and Young because at her YL distributor training he gave a speech and shed tears. There used to be online (at Kobashi?) a letter from the company YL claims " certifies " their oils, and that company claims it does NOT certify oils, but will certify a company, for a fee, LOL. (I do not ifnd that info online now, and lost the saved copy I had in a computer crash last year). http://www.kobashi.co.uk/ which actually does seem to test their oils for contaminants, etc. No " certification " from a company that " certifies " a company (but not the company's products) for a fee. I also did a lot of reading about how YL recommends using their oils, and found many sites with info on adverse reactions to raindrop therapy, and also liver damage in cats from using essential oils on cats. Also read some info from a professional association for aromatherapy practitioners that had negative info and warnings about the way YL uses oils. YL is a mega profitable company, with a jillion distributors, so googling for info about them and their oils turns up a tidal wave of sites/people selling and promoting the company, and it can be hugely time consuming to keep searching for independent info on them, because there are so many promoting sites to sift through to get " the other side " . This is NOT to say their oils are inferior, just that I do not consider them anything special or worth the inflated prices, and I personally think the way they recommed using their oils is risky, if not dangerous. For cats, their recommendations can be fatal (liver damage) See http://www.cybercanine.com/cat.htm http://www.thelavendercat.com/3201/index.html http://www.thelavendercat.com/3501.html sol wrote: > Sol, > > I would like to see your research data on this claim, please. > > > > Sol wrote: I don't believe it, having researched the company and its founder > > thoroughly. Guest guest
Thank you Sol for the link to Quack Watch and Young Living. On further search, I see that Dr. Barrett, author of the article on Young, is founder and owner of Quack Watch and seems to have a career of poo pooing anything outside of allopathic treatments. I wonder which pharmaceutical company owns him. I would love to see his take on all of us celebrating the uses of VCO.
Guest guest
Yep. Barrett is a quack all right. But not everything on the quackwatch site is authored by him, nor is it all false. One just has to be careful. Quackwatch info on silver for example, is a total crock. Which I was able to establish by many other sources debunking the silver quackwatch article. OTOH, I have not been able to find refutation of any of the Young Living/ Young info, aside from the flat statement from YL distributors that it is " not true " . If it isn't true, you'd think someone would have some links to prove that the references were made up or falsified. So far (around 5 years) none. sol wrote: > Thank you Sol for the link to Quack Watch and Young Living. Guest guest
, if you are not right on, you are very very close. I remember someone saying that the guy at Quackwatch was, at one time, into natural stuff himself and through that he got hauled through court. Then, the story went, they made a deal with him to run the Quackwatch site. I don't know how true that story is but irregardless, I don't believe a word he says. It sounds too much like it is coming from the drug companies. As far as essential oils is concerned, there was and still is a lot of competition in these oils. I always thought Young Living 's oils were amongst the finest. I think most of the bad rumors we hear about Young is from a woman who sells the oils. I ran into her once on a forum and she is hell bent on getting him for some reason, no matter what. No, I don't remember her name. Sol, I would be interested in seeing the references made to Young Living products. Can you supply them? One of the problems with the essential oils is that it is far too easy to cut them with other oils, chemical liquids and etc. The only way you are going to know if the oils are pure is to have them tested and even then it would depend on the lab and how much they knew about these types of oils. I loved the Young Living Essential Oils and as soon as I can I intend to buy them again. I met Young and I could not say if he is trustworthy or not but one thing I know is that he is very passionate about his oils. Helen > Thank you Sol for the link to Quack Watch and Young Living. Guest guest
I have quite an assortment of essential oils, and can attest that in my case, the Young Living live up to their claims. The other brands are somewhat effective and in some cases, there is not much difference in price. On a daily basis, I use, Release, Peace and Calming, White , Lavender, and Tangerine. All but the Tangerine are from YL. wrote: Well, looks like Helen's sold on Young Living Essential Oils. If you find a source, Helen, please inform. How 'bout the rest of you?
