Guest guest
I have never done a test for hormone levels. Neither bloodwork nor saliva testing. I had marked your post so I could see if anyone responded. So far, none that I have seen. In that order. This is significant. I would be interested to know what the rest of your diet was/is. Were you overweight when you started taking VCO? What was your most nagging concern about your health before VCO? What other kinds of supplements do you use? -vanessa
Guest guest
This is very interesting.I dont get my hormones checked , but my periods have become very regular since I started faking coconut oil in 2003.Even when I was much younger, periods were highly irregular. I take VCO daily, at least a tablespoon, often more. But my intake does vary from day to day. I dislike the idea of messing about with supplemental hormones without knowing my current levels, but I have it on good authority that saliva tests for sex hormones are not very accurate, that it needs to be blood tests for accuracy. Blood tests means a doctor to order them, and I don't have one since my PA refused. That means searching for a new doctor, and that gets very expensive very fast. I still have health insurance, but with a high deductible, so no hope of reaching it, everything will be out of pocket. My best guess from past experience is finding a doctor and getting hormones tested could easily run over $500. I have not had good luck calling doctors before a first appt, and getting any info as to what their normal standard of practice is. sol

Guest guest
Sol: Saliva testing is the ONLY WAY to ACCURATELY check your hormone levels. Blood shows hormones BUT they are wrapped in a protein envelope (protein-bound) and NOT available FOR USE BY THE BODY. The hormones that show up in a Saliva Test are UNBOUND and thus readily available. This is a known fact. Guest guest
: I only took the VCO for 3 months (steady) to get those high hormone levels. Guest guest
My understanding is that saliva tests are very accurate for cortisol testing. Not accurate for thyroid testing, and not very accurate for sex hormones. I will stick with the opinions I trust on this. sol Bonnie Cole wrote: > Sol: > > > > Saliva testing is the ONLY WAY to ACCURATELY check your hormone levels. > Blood shows hormones BUT they are wrapped in a protein envelope > (protein-bound) and NOT available FOR USE BY THE BODY. > > The hormones that show up in a Saliva Test are UNBOUND and thus readily > available. > > >
Guest guest
Well, I may have to change my opinion. I am currently reading a book by Dr. Lee, and he says saliva tests are accurate for sex hormones. so now I have " authorities " on both sides with opposite opinions. sol sol wrote: > My understanding is that saliva tests are very accurate for cortisol > testing.
