Guest guest
So, we've stereotyped Asians, Hispanics, Native Indians and Amish - race and religion. Does anyone else see the irony? We complain about being victims of discrimination, yet we stereotype others. Should we pause and reflect on this for a moment? Maybe it's just a matter that some people are jerks and some are not. Being a jerk transcends race and religion. Davey Lamb

LPA for decades has not been a very welcoming organizations to members of racial and cutural minorities. As a white male achon for 38 years as a member I've been in the " accepted majority " So, I've heard so many derogatory comments about those of rare forms of dwarfism, of color, religion and sexual orientation. Let's never forget the furors over the columns " a different view " , the nude self portraits at the conferences, the complaints about sex workshops. LP's wasnt to be accepted. That can and will happen. But it would happen alot faster if folks drop the backwater mentality and realize that open minded and more liberal beliefs benifit them more often than conservative, right-wing ideology. Didn't anyone notice that dwarfism comes in all races, relgions and lifestyles. Get with it folks. If You're a white, christian , married dwarf, you too are a minority. As a married WASP-dwarf, and a Republican, I can honestly say I've suffered no more intolerance and bigotry at the hands of " conservatives " than I have at the hands of " liberals. " In fact, if anything, in my experiences working for conservative, right-wing employers, I have found them to be more accommodating and tolerant of my disabilities than more " liberal " employers. And, BTW, not every " conservative " hates gays, nudity and foreigners. I believe that's more of a generational issue. (See! Now I've slandered old folks!) Why don't we drop all the labels (liberal, conservative, white, black, Amish, etc.) except for three: A-hole, Non-A-hole, Don't Care... In my opinion, the world's population breaks down to this: 20% are A-holes; 15% are Non-A-holes; and 65% just Don't Care.
