Guest guest
This afternoon my CS wife and I had delicious GF quiches at City Lights Espresso (or Cafe) in Santa Clara at 1171 Homestead (though the place is actually on the side street across from the post office). The shell was buttery and flaky. I think they were $4.50 each. It turns out that the owner, Margaret, has a bad gluten allergy, so 70%-80% of all the baked goods and other items the cafe has are gluten-free. She is also conscious of cross-contamination issues and impresses that on her employees. Margaret bakes a number of items daily, including breads, cinnamon rolls, scones, muffins, cookies, and other desserts. She gave us a sample of her Parmesan bread (it was good), and we bought a loaf of hallah bread. The loaf was $10, but it is a full-size (9.5"L x 5.5"W x 4"H) loaf that weighs 2.5 pounds. It has a very good flavor (very slightly eggy), has the porosity of normal bread, and doesn't crumble. My wife says, "Yayyyyy," and I like it as well, though I'm going to leave it to her since I don't have CS. She also got a GF peanut butter/chocolate chip cookie but has not tried it yet. Guest guest
I'm replying to this post, even though it's from a few months back. My parents and I just discovered City Lights Espresso today, and it was amazing! I'm really surprised I haven't heard more about on this group, so wanted to give a little plug for the place. We had GF quiche, sandwiches, muffins, and an amazing chocolate cake. The owner seems aware of cross contamination, with seperate pans and all. See 's email below for the info on the location. It's in a really neat/old part of Santa Clara. We spent the afternoon walking around and looking at the old houses, topped off with GF cake and coffee!!
