Guest guest
A few of our favorites For the cooler: Lunch meat sliced and cut to cracker size(favorites are Diestel Turkey and Beeler’s Ham)Cheese (ditto above) and cheese sticksHard boiled eggs (if you want to devil them, you can just pack the filling separate from the whites, then spoon it in as you eat them)Baby carrotsCut up chunks of bell peppersPickles (Bubbie’s are a favorite)Tuna Salad (works great with the bell peppers for scooping) If you like Udie’s bread (or have another favorite that is edible without needing to be heated), you can even bring fixings for sandwich making: tomatoes, lettuce, a small container of Mayo. Don’t forget a few disposable plates, napkins, and utensils. Crackers ( and son’s, San J, Almond Nut thins)NutsTrail mixFruit: mandarin oranges (Satsuma’s are easy to peel and in season now) or orangesJerky (we like Turkey Jerky by Shelton’s)Sea’s Gift (toasted seaweed; we prefer the roasted and salted, not the sweet)Low Carb bars (Think Thin) If you want to bring a few things for eating at your aunt’s or anywhere you have a microwave: Jaipur Vegetables, Shelton’s canned chili, Amy’s has several canned soups that are GF. We ate at a restaurant at the Zoo once (I think it was Albert’s). They had a couple of things that were GF, but as I recall they needed a lot of coaching to make sure everything was safe. Sounds like a fun trip! Pam
