Guest guest
Jody, I’m just curious. Did the package say gluten-free or have the GF logo on it? It’s a bummer you reacted both ways. It’s interesting you had an allergic reaction to the buckwheat since it sounds like you haven’t eaten buckwheat before. If you search Bob’s Red Mill and buckwheat, you will see several references to their difficulties finding a source of  buckwheat. I think they flipped back and forth a couple of times before giving up and taking off the GF label until they feel they can find a reliable source. Arrowhead Mills  doesn’t seem to have this problem (…yet). I don’t know if the problem is isolated or more widespread. I wanted to look into this further, but haven’t had a chance. About the sprays, it’s the same message: some are, some aren’t, and you have to check with the manufacturer or a reliable list to know the difference. It was Bob's Red Mill and so I think I had both an allergy to buckwheat (hives) and a gluten reaction with the possible wheat contamination (spasms, pain, abdominal distress). I used earth balance to butter the pans, but good to know to avoid most sprays. Many thanks for the helpful info, Jodi
