Guest guest
Registration for Camp Celiac at Camp Arroyo in the Livermore wine country opens Feb. 1 at www.celiaccamp.com. This year we are offering two four-night, five-day camps: July 21-25 and July 25-29. For each session we host approximately 125 kids ages 9-17 and 20 volunteer counselors. All the campers and nearly all the counselors have celiac. Enjoy a week of never having to ask " is this gluten free. " Volunteers are welcome to sign up for one session or both. Guest guest
I strongly encourage anyone who can take the week or weeks off to take advantage of this wonderful camp! I was a counselor the first three years the camp started, and they were some of the best weeks of my entire life! You'll meet so many other Celiac's (I still see and talk to many of the other counselors I met), eat some AMAZING gluten free food, and seeing the wonderful impact it has on the children is indescribable. I wasn't able to go last year, and unfortunately this year is not going to work out either, but I am going to try my hardest to make next year work because I really miss it. Take a look at the website & feel free to ask me any questions you may have. --- In , " jackiescottcorley " <jackiecorley@...> wrote: > > Registration for Camp Celiac at Camp Arroyo in the Livermore wine country opens Feb. 1 at www.celiaccamp.com. Guest guest
I agree - it's a wonderful experience! I was a volunteer three years ago and would do it again in a heartbeat if I could. The camp is gorgeous, the staff and volunteers are amazing and the food is indescribably good! The best part, though, is seeing the kids thrive in that environment, make new friends and see celiac disease in a completely different way. The community effort to make it happen - nonprofit, business, YMCA and volunteer - is also heartwarming.
