Guest guest
Thanks for the info! I have seen a Five Guys around here and looking forward to trying it out now!! =D -Christie > > On Friday night, we ate at the new Five Guys Burgers & Fries restaurant in The Plant Shopping Center on Curtner Avenue in San . They serve only hot dogs, hamburgers, regular fries and Cajun fries. The only item on the menu that contains gluten is their buns (per an email from their corporate office, as well as a phone call to their customer service line). This restaurant is very similar to In/Out. > > The food was excellent, but here are a couple of notes. If you have a peanut allergy, STAY AWAY! They have open containers of peanuts to snack on while waiting for your order, and there are peanut shells on the floor. If you don't have a peanut allergy, it is truly a delight sitting there opening up peanuts and enjoying them while sipping your soda and waiting for your order. > > There is an assembly line going on there as they build your hamburger or hot dog with your specifications (free sautéed mushrooms, onions, etc.). If this upsets you, you may not want to go, but I watched them build my hamburger on a piece of foil (since I asked for no bun) and pass it down to the next person. No one really touched it, and the condiments were squirted on. > > The hamburger buns were on the grill but to the right. This is the only thing Five Guys pointed out to me. The buns are on the side of the grill and shouldn't come in contact with the hamburgers, but there could be possible cross-contact issues (i.e., the spatula picking up the hamburgers and putting them on a bun, etc.). > > Our hamburgers and fries were delicious. I ordered the Cajun fries and they had a bit of a " kick " to them. Next time, I will just snack on some of my husband's fries because the small order of fries could feed an army! > > One last note - there are no trays or plates there. They put your order (to eat inside or to go) in a paper bag, and you just tear the bag down the middle and eat off of the bag. It took a bit to get used to and was a little greasy, but it was fine. > > Usual disclaimer – eating out is risky! > > Sue >
