Liquid pain reliever/liquid diet

My son is having surgery on his jaw tomorrow (for an under bite) and will need a liquid diet for several weeks. My first challenge has been to find liquid medications he needs that are gluten-free. Liquid ziithromax (antibiotic) appears to be gluten-free, but the doctor wanted to prescribe Lortab elixir (liquid vicadin), but that appears on some lists as containing gluten. Another list said it was gluten-free. I can’t seem to find a web site for the manufacturer. Anyone have any experience with Lortab elixir or other liquid pain relievers?

The second challenge is to feed him a liquid diet for 6 weeks. Anyone have any suggestions beyond putting soup through the blender or making smoothies?
