Guest guest
Duncan: I looked at the contents of the Sterols in VCO and there is a small amount and certainly enough to make a difference according to Bruce Fife AND there is even MORE STEROLS in Red Palm Oil that are not even shown on the ingredients list on his site. It said, they're never listed. The research is lagging but he has found many references to the Sterol content of both these oils in the Medical Research Papers that have been published. Bruce Fife/ Duncan - here it is again said differently At least we've found out thanks to that coconut oil contains such low amounts of sterols that they are not likely to confer health or disease. This falls in line with the amounts in other common foods. The data also did not support Bonnie's contention that the sterols that are present in low amounts are converted to pregnenolone in the gut. Guest guest
Bonnie, I noted from the reference posted by that the amount of sterols in these low sterol foods are similar to other low sterol foods in your diet, and that because only small amounts of dietary sterols are absorbed from the food the actual amount used at all in the body is much less than what's in the food. Even the small amount that is absorbed is not necessarily converted into pregnenolone because hormone creation is a controlled process. I agree sterols are good for you but I don't think these oils qualify for mention as a sterol therapy when a single cup of weak hops tea has dozens of times the amount of sterols in it.
