Guest guest
Last time I went to my doctor (Dr. Jerry Tennant....has a web site)....I bought a mineral test kit. It has small bottles of individual minerals. You put a tiny drop of each one on your tongue to see how it tastes. The info with it teaches you how to tell which ones you need to supplement, based on the taste. The kit cost $100. Josie
Guest guest
Hi Sylvia - your GP should be doing these blood tests as a priority. If he refuses, send him a letter with a copy to the Head of Practice pointing out that you are specifically asking for these tests because you know that if any one of them are low in the reference range, this could actually stop your thyroid hormone from getting into the cells and if they ARE low, they must be treated with supplements. You also need other tests such as Ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3 and folate because again, if these are low (and in hypothyroid sufferers, they could be VERY low), you need these supplementing too. These are VERY important. If your GP refuses, then ask for a referral to an endocrinologist. Ask for your letter of requests for these blood tests to be placed into your medical notes - this usually makes doctors sit up and take notice and comply with your request. Guest guest
Theodora might be able to answer that one - but I think this has been asked before, so somebody might have the answer. Luv - Sheila Any idea where you can be tested for vits and minerals in the uk, without including your doctor? is it done by hair only? If it is hair testing how relevant is it? anyone got any experience? No virus found in this incoming message. Guest guest
You can get it done via Thyroid UK using Genova Diagnostics. They recommend you wash your hair with s baby shampoo for 2 wks before doing the test. Test shows levels of minerals and explanations for why levels are high/low. Guest guest
Hi, I found this home test kit for £36. No idea if it's any good though. https://www.mineraltestkit.co.uk/products/about.html?gclid=CIPiouzBuKECFRyX2AodF\ RS9HA > > Any idea where you can be tested for vits and minerals in the uk, without including your doctor? is it done by hair only? > > If it is hair testing how relevant is it? anyone got any experience? >
