Guest guest
Alobar In regard to the Subject of this post, do you have references for that statement or is it just conjecture? You aren't calling us who don't agree with you " stupid " are you? I would expect that you are since you think you are the brightest one in the group. If you are calling us " stupid " (or me in particular) what does that make you? Don't answer as I already know. Guest guest
Helen, I was commenting to . I saw no reason to confuse things by changing the subject line. I applaud Duncan for his patient explaining and references he gives because it helps me to understand much more about how my body works. While you can be irritable and seem to be deliberately dense in discussions sometimes, I have no reason to believe you are stupid or ignorant. To me, stupid is being incapable of learning. Ignorance can be remedied easily, provided an ignorant person wants to learn. But even stupidity can be reversed sometimes. However, what research I have read (see http://www.gnxp.com/blog/2006/01/omega-3-affects-iq-and-behavior.php) deals with increasing IQ of children by feeding pregnant mothers more omega 3 oils. So that probably would not help a slow adult. But some forms of old-age mental degeneration can be helped via supplements. Alpha Lipoic Acid and Acetyl L Carnitine help older folks become more active, more inquisitive, and more able to grasp new ways of thinking and behaving. http://www.heart-health-for-life.com/alpha-lipoic-acid.html Benfotiamine helps to reduce Advanced Glycation End products. http://www.smart-drugs.net/info-benfotiamine.htm I have been taking all 3 supplements now for the past 7 years. It is now far easier for me to relate to people outside of my normal social peer group, I am less stuck in un-productive ruts, and it is far easier for me to apprehend and comprehend new information. My mind feels much younger and more flexible than it did a decade, or even 2 decades ago. But that is purely a subjective evaluation. I have no idea whether others would feel similarly if they chose to use those 3 supplements. As to whether you are ignorant or stupid, I cannot say. However, your statements below sure seem like you have hostility based in prejudice, feeling threatened, and/or a mind which is, perhaps, not as agile as the minds of some other people. > It seems that education spoils people. > Once they are educated, > they can no longer think for themselves. > It seems to happen right around about the time that they get their degrees. ) > We are the lucky ones. > Helen But just because that is what it seems to me does not mean I know you, your motives, or what prompts you to behave as you do. That's not something I could judge even if we were housemates or lovers. Guest guest
Alobar So then who are you calling " stupid " ? I have nothing against references and/or evidence per se so I, too, appreciate Duncan's and your efforts to provide such but I do not put full stock in them because the reference itself could be be wrong in one way or another but it doesn't hurt to take a look at it. It might even be useful. If someone on the group says something that interests me but is something I know little about and they do not back it with 'evidence' then I do my own research. I would never offend them for having been kind enough to share. What bothers me is the way you dismiss any comments people make, as nothing, if they are not backing them with a 'reference' or 'evidence' or a clinical trial or science. Much of science, to me, is a joke. It is science that kills 160,000 people a year in the USA and that is a conservative figure. There are people who say that the figure is 780,000 killed by drugs, doctors' actions, hospitals, nursing homes, etc all of which are based on some kind of science or another. I am sure there is 'good' science but even that has its limitations and certainly is not the 'god' that so many try to make it. Ihave gotten some great information from people on this group who did not give any evidence or references and their information was valuable to me and therefore leads me to believe that it was also valuable to others. As for your snide remarks about my intelligence or the lack of it, in YOUR opinion, I make no comments. I don't need to prove anything to you, ....or others for that matter. Have a good day. Guest guest
As I said in the earlier post, I did not want to add to confusion by starting yet another thread. Also, when I reply to email in my Gmail browser page, I am not shown the subject line unless I hit the " edit subject " button. My original post on this particular thread was intended to agree with 's comments about Duncan.
