Guest guest
How anal are you about these 2 ingredients?? Also I am finding a lot of foods that are listed on manufactors websites as gluten free contain these ingredients and I am scared to buy them. Should I be or do yuo trust the manufactor and believe they are from non-gluten sources?? I wish I felt the gluten like my daughter does so I could just know... Thanks! Guest guest
Libby,With natural flavorings I usually just let it go.. usually I am avoiding highly processed foods or unfamiliar products anyhow at this point. Caramel color is tricky. It used to be said that if the food is manufactured in the US then the stuff is sourced from corn and it's okay. I had a reaction once though to Hornsby's dry cider, which had caramel color as the only possible offending ingredient and it was made in USA. It sounds like the severity of your gluten response is such that you are concerned about " silent damage " and overall length of recovery. Depending upon how long you've been on the diet and how successful you think it has been, my advice is to either research every product with the manufacturer before eating it or to go ahead and try it in some situations where you really want to give it try. Since gluten is very likely to slip into your diet anyway if you are eating out often or have not been on the diet for years, abstaining for the sake of long term health isn't worth it. Being prudent and researching the product after the fact would be a good idea, and if you're not getting a response from the company or something like that then it's safest to forego that food, but that's a decision I would make depending on what's going on with my health and how much I like the food. Hope this helps. NarenOn Mon, Aug 30, 2010 at 3:37 PM, Libby <libbykranz@...> wrote: How anal are you about these 2 ingredients??
