I'm kind of the canary for a few celiac friends. I have about 15 minutes before I'm glued to the bathroom. I get a really sharp pain in my gut and from that point. Its my two minute warning before I have to lock myself in the bathroom.

Everyone I know has it like a day or hours later.

I’m the same way. I know in 10

minutes. First I get pain in my neck and shoulder like someone has a

death-grip on it (I have three protruding disks in my neck from a car accident,

that, as long as I stay away from gluten do not bother me – I guess this

just goes to show much gluten causes inflammation in the body), then I get

really tired, then I am glued to the bathroom for the next three days with

sharp, stabbing shooting pains in the gut. The bowel reaction seem to

taper off over the next week or two, and I remain low energy for a while, but

the horrible gut-wrenching, double-me-over pain in my intestines goes away

after about three days. Oh, and I break out.

Incidentally, I found this fabulous stuff

at WF (Rainbow has it too) called KaVita. It is a non-dairy

probiotic. I got the lemon ginger one. On day two of my last

glutening (from cc in the bulk bins at Rainbow), I drank the drink, and by the

time I had swallowed my last sip, the pain in my intestines was gone. I

still had the GI symptoms, but the pain went away – which, I will take

ANY day!
