Can anyone make an estimate as to why Mercola is all the sudden backpedaling on Cod Liver Oil? Even the good stuff? http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2008/12/23/important-cod-live\ r-oil-update.aspx It seems to me he posted that without taking anything into consideration what Weston Price Foundation had to say: December 2008 Cod Liver Oil update: http://westonaprice.org/basicnutrition/CLOUpdateDec2008.pdf Information update on Cod Liver Oil December 2008: http://westonaprice.org/basicnutrition/Information-clo-update-dec08.pdf My position is still the same: If the cod liver oil is naturally occurring Vitamin A & D and not cheap synthetic stuff found in Nordic Naturals and the like - it is a good and necessary thing for us because we are not an animal organ eating family. For years traditional peoples have been using high doses of Vitamin A from animal flesh and there were no reports of anyone getting " toxic " from it. Mercola's article smells of quackery. -vanessa
Guest guest
I believe that Mercola is an endorser (i.e. receives money) on the Antartic Krill Oil found here: http://products.mercola.com/krill/ I'm not sure that pushing cod liver oil does anything for the krill oil sales. I myself take krill oil, though not the brand advertised on Mercola, for the antioxidant benefits. It is not, however a good source of Vitamin D. Guest guest
> > Agreed. But in this article he is not selling anything. So he is > giving advice here about nothing he is selling, it seemed to be > anyway. He is very much giving advice that is profit and bottomline based. If he persuades people against CLO and offers his krill oil as replacement ... sounds like a sales pitch to me. This isn't the first time he's pulled something like this. At least two people have pointed out to me that his blog or " discussion area " is so heavily monitored that anything said against what he sells or " believes in " is immediate removed. -vanessa
