Hi Bernadette:

JW made a good post a couple of weeks ago. He said something to the

effect that: if you eat some food, and after you finish a couple of

hundred calories of it you are still hungry for another helping, ask

yourself what it is in the food that is having that effect. And then

take that into account in your future food planning.

A corollary of that is: watch whether you are still hungry after all

the foods you eat. You may find patterns that some foods are better

at killing your hunger than others. Yesterday around noon, having

eaten several snacks amounting to about 700 calories I was still

hungry. I then ate four cups of my thick soup - 320 calories. After

that I didn't feel hungry again all day (and I haven't even tried

adding guar to it yet!). So I ended up only eating ~1000 calories

for the full day. Today I am aiming to be back to 1500 so I will be

eating the soup last! Of course you may not react to my soup the

same way I do.

Rodney.

Lots of soup salesmen on our list. That's OK.

Hmmm...given that 1/3 of the US adult population is obese, and another 1/3

are overweight, I doubt our bodies lead most of us to the right eating

pattern....

Hi :

I see what you mean. My body tells me french fries are delicious.

Every once I a while I get fries, and they stuff me for the rest of the day. Then they make a lot of gas - I don't know if it's the oil or the carbs, but the gas tells me a lot.

So maybe the taster isn't as accurate a gauge as the gut?

Admittedly my gut is sensitive to IBS - don't eat wheat. But I was 64yo before I found out the wheat was causing my gut pain.

Regards.
