Guest guest
" Glucosamine is ten times as potent as regular glucose in causing insulin resistance in animals. " Glucosamine can increase fasting blood sugar levels and worsen glucose tolerance. " These side effects occur because glucosamine activates a metabolic pathway in the body that leads to the deterioration of insulin-producing cells in the pancreas and causes insulin resistance, two factors associated with diabetes. " The reason I take it for the rebuilding of cartlidge and soft tissue. It has changed my life as far as that is concerned. Insulin resistance is a problem,so i take cinnamon 1 gram a day. This has been shown to dramatically reduce insulin resistance as does regular exercise. Plus it tastes great and reduces hunger.
Guest guest
Thanks...you are right...not enough info there...thats why I asked the group what they thought. Someone sent a wonderful site on Coconut Oil but it looks like it is from another country and the shipping is very high...will keep looking...Thanks...Virginia -------------- Original message -------------- From: Alobar <Alobar@...> The ad does not state whether the oil is extracted from fresh coconuts or copra. I avoid copra whenever possible. Alobar On 9/26/07, V <vwolf21@...> wrote: > From: V > > Would this be a good product for cooking? Guest guest
If you are in the US, I like Wilderness Family Naturals for good quality coconut oil. There are certainly other suppliers, but I have come to like both the folks at WFN and what they sell. http://www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com/virgin_coconut_oil.htm Best deal is on largest container, but that means a big cash investment, and you may wish to try out a pint of each oil they sell to see which one you like best. Personally, I prefer centriguged oil, because (to me) it has the best aroma and taste. Others prefer an oil with less flavor. I love cocnut and feel it goes with any food. I have been broke the past 2 years so I have had to make due with another brand which is sold locally by the pint. As soon as my cash flow turns around, I am gonna score a 5 gallon pail of centrifuged oil from WFN. Guest guest
Hi Alobar, I looked at the centrifuged oil and it appears liquid. Does it solidify when the temperature drops? If I get 5 gallons, won't it get rancid before I finish it? I take 3 Tab a day and may cook something in it occasionally. Thanks for any information you can give me. in OH >>>>There are certainly other suppliers, but I have come to like both the folks at WFN and what they sell. http://www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com/virgin_coconut_oil.htm
Guest guest
Hi , I've had a 5 gallon pail.from WFN......that's nearing 1 gallon.......since January. No tickles or throat catching. (therefore no rancidity) What part of Ohio are you in? If it's close to Northeast Indiana I'd be glad to share a pail with you so you get the reduced price but not the huge quantity. We could meet at VanWert or ding or so. Saralou Grammy D wrote: > Hi Alobar, > > I looked at the centrifuged oil and it appears liquid. Does it solidify when the temperature drops? Guest guest
5 gallons of coconut oil lasts me several years. When I evacuated after the hurricane 2 years ago, then returned home, I had forgotten I still had 2 gallons left of oil I had purchased in 2004. When I discovered it, in 2006, it took me a while to finish it up. No sign of rancidity. I store at room temperature, which is 90-100 in summer and usually about 80-85 in winter in my kitchen. When I pick up the pail from my air conditioned mail drop, it is solid, like any other coconut oil. It almost never solidifies in my home because my kitchen room temp almost never drops below 80. I used to use another brand which did have the " catch in the throat " problem because it was improperly processed, which (I assume) would have gotten worse over time. Luckily I had only bought a pint of that oil. Since I switched to WFN, I have never had a similar problem.
