Guest guest
I purchased both of Laurel Mellin's books, and scanned them. They do seem to go for the root causes of obsessive behavior. Both books focus on programmed self-talk called " cycles " . The cycles are a Q & A sequence of logical and emotional self-analyses, where you examine your actions, emotions, expectations, and needs. The cycles are best learned in a group self-help environment, so that one becomes familiar with how to perform the analysis comfortably and naturally via the programmed sequence of specific questions (A cycle) that you ask yourself and reply to truthfully to examine your motives, your actions, your emotions, your expectations, and the consequences (among other things). Of the two books ( " The Solution " , " The Pathway " ) by Laurel Mellin used to overcome obsessive habits, " The Solution " seems to be simpler one oriented more toward overeating. The technique focuses especially on (N) nurturing behavior to nourish yourself (in part by nurturing others), and in setting rational limits (L) on excesses and poor habits. So Nurturing and Limits are the two primary keys toward curtailing excesses. There are 4 additional keys (read the book) to exterminate the root causes of obsessive and excessive behavior. -- Warren
