Guest guest
Sealady, thanks great idea, I just bought some myself. Pat KC <kaylee4848@...> wrote: I just bought some whey concentrate - un-flavored - we have been mixing it in juice, water, soy milk and even in our coffee (mines iced). Only 90 calories and 19 gr of protein!! Is suppose to help with blood sugar and even weight loss - you sure do feel full if you drink it before meals and wait about a half hour or so before eating. It doesn't fill me much. And within an hour to 2 hours I'll have a low blood sugar attack if that is all I have eaten. In terms of how I feel, how soon I need to eat again, and how my blood sugar reacts it is almost as if I have eaten no protein at all. sol
Guest guest
Doesn't half and half contain too many carbs for you? Guest guest
it's carbless as my husband and mom used it constantly while they attempted the atkins diet ( yeah that was a joke for both of them) Shalom Re: Re: Coconut Water/ways of getting protein Doesn't half and half contain too many carbs for you? Guest guest
Technically, yes, cream would be better. And I'd use cream in preference if there was any sold where I live that I could safely eat. Unfortunately ALL cream brands sold in my area contain carrageenan which I'm allergic to. A couple times a year when I get to Wild Oats (340 mile RT) I pick up cream without carrageenan. All I can get hold of. Then I freeze it when I get back home. Previously frozen cream isn't as good as cream that was never frozen, but it is better than no cream at all. For my particular situation, half and half is the best I can do. sol Alobar wrote: > Doesn't half and half contain too many carbs for you? > > Alobar > > On 1/13/08, sol <solbun@...> wrote: > >> KC wrote: >> >>> you sure do feel full if you drink it before meals >>> and wait about a half hour or so before eating. >>> >>> >> I take a double whey shake, made with half and half. 34 gm protein, plus >> the fat from the half and half. Guest guest
I suppose it depends on how much half- & -half one uses. USDA food database lits half- & -half as containing 4.30 grams of carbs per 100 grams. So if one uses a tablespoon at a time, that is not much carbs. But if one uses it a pint at a time, the carbs are significant. Guest guest
Yes they are, and I do consume it in pretty good amounts. But I am aware of the carb load and try to compensate elsewhere. I use about 2/3 cup for a whey shake. Per the USDA 1 cup of half and half has 10.41 grams of carbohydrate. Even at a pint a day, that is only 21 grams of carbs. What do you consider a good daily carb limit? I'm also trying to find a little pocket carbohydrate counter, something small enough to carry with me when shopping. I've looked at Amazon but they all look like fair size books to me. I want something quite small like the little calorie guides they used to sell in racks by the checkout in grocery stores. sol Alobar wrote: > I suppose it depends on how much half- & -half one uses. Guest guest
I have no hard and fast guidelines for carbs, other than the fewer the better. I was using 2/3 vanilla whey (8 grams of carbs per serving) plus 1/2 plain whey (1 gram of carbs). It tasted good, but my blood sugars climbed 15 points (up to 145) in less than 2 weeks. I take 4 doses of whey per day. Now that I have cut back to 1/4 vanilla and 3/4 plain, my blood sugars have dropped back to the 120s. I keep diabetes sugar control thru diet and supplements with no diabetic meds. Alobar On 1/14/08, sol <solbun@...> wrote: > Yes they are, and I do consume it in pretty good amounts. Guest guest
I thought that is where I remembered seeing them years ago, but the store in my town doesn't have any, and I've been looking for a few months. Next time I visit the bigger town east of us, I'll look there. sol melly banagale wrote: > pocket calorie counters can be found at the check out > counters of supermarkets - most of the time. > > >
Guest guest
I take many supplements. Vitamin C, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Acetyl L-Carnitine, Fenugreek, Gymnema Sylvestre, Vitabase blood sugar formula, Gourdin, Cinnqmon powder, MSM, Niacinamide, sub-lingual B-12, sub-lingual Melatonin, plus other supplements not specifically related to diabetes. Diabetic diet the docs say to eat I find to be garbage. Far too many carbs.
