Just thought I'd throw in my 2¢...I've used Wilderness Family Red Palm oil and

it is wonderful! I made biscuits and they were light as a feather although

YELLOW! I also bought a gallon of the Red Palm oil from Mountain Rose Herbs, but

haven't used it yet. Their prices were better than Wilderness Family. We have a

co-op here in our small town and we're able to get a significant discount from

Mountain Rose. It doesn't have to be anything official, just a few friends who

want to order.

Blessings,

Sunny

Sunny:

I don’t know about the Mountain Rose Palm Oil but I did buy some of the

Wildnerness Family Red Palm Oil and I wondered why it didn’t solidify when

the kitchen got cold, so I put it in the Fridge and it still stayed runny so

I wrote to Dr. Fife and asked him. He said that the PO SHOULD get very hard

when it is cold and what WFN’s is selling is actually a FRACTIONATED OIL,

that is separated out from the RAW RED PALM OIL and this is called Palm

Olein. Because it is separated it is then more like Olive Oil and much

higher in Monounsaturates and much lower in the Saturated Fat that you want

from this oil.

So WFN’s is not selling the HEART-HEALTHY raw Palm Oil. I phone them and

they admitted it and I said that they should POST that information on their

site.

So there you have it Sunny. The Palm Olein is not the best kind of oil, I

guess you could say it is ALTERED and so no longer in it’s original natural

state and I can’t think of the word right now but you get my meaning. The

other Fractionated part of the Palm Oil is Palm Stearin which is white and

used in Restaurants for high heat cooking and very stable.

All the health benefits would be with the RAW RED PALM OIL.

Yes, I've tried them both HOWEVER this was a year ago and I didn't know

about the FRACTIONATED OIL that is out there and either one of these could

be those. The Palm Olein (refined and fractionated) tends to taste a whole

better than the raw oil. I should phone both of them and just ask them.

That's interesting, Bonnie. I did have my palm oil from Wilderness Family in the

frig and it was really hard....so not sure if maybe they might be selling two

different kinds?? I also checked my palm oil from Mountain Rose that I store in

my pantry and it is in a liquid state. I'd sure like to find out WHAT I have.

You can easily find out what you have by just calling and asking them (each

company), they always have 800#s.

Just call and ask them what kind of Palm Oil do you have? It is the RAW, or

is it the OLEIN?

They'll tell you. Like I said, if you're going to eat the Olein, you might

as well just use Olive Oil.
