Our body is *UNABLE* to " naturally make correct choices " .

We are slaves to our appetites and tastes.

Unless... we are liberated.

For some of us, a CRON diet represents liberation.

These thoughts are expressed by many CRONies.

Not to argue that specific point, but I think that a lot of food has been altered to make us think it tastes better. Jack laLanne said "don't eat anything that tastes good". Excess sugar, excess salt, MSG, and a new set of chems has been added to soups, eg, that are extremely potent exciters. My wife made a very tasty stew using "low sodium" v-8 and I guess I ate 3 servings before I realized something was wrong. Checked the label and found disodium inosinate and disodium guanylate.

Look em up in Medline.

Regards.

Ya think? There's a reason the food industry is called an industry.. they are very much a business, and as such are not rewarded for our health, but how much we consume.

They will play upon our vague perceptions of "healthy" and the buzz word today is low carb. It is hard to get rich selling people less food so they play the shell game of casting one macronutrient as the villain.

While I don't suggest that qualitative differences are not important, but ad lib eaters have an attention span that usually can only hold one concept at time... it is not only important what we eat but how much.

JR

PS: Yes, yes, yes... read the label... I have recently, with no small difficulty removed the last remnants of trans-fats from my diet (I think) and remain surprised how pervasive their use is/was. I suspect they will become villainized when the start showing up more prominently on labels.
