<snip> would separate...and also why it now has a waxy feel to it.

<snip> .35 oz borax

<snip> I changed the 3.53 oz beeswax to half that, and the remaining half I

added

<snip> in e-wax.

Hi,

The biggest problem with the formula that you showed is that

beeswax/borax is for a W/O, (water in oil) emulsion and emulsifying wax is

for an O/W, (oil in water). The emulsion doesn't know which way to form.

I use both ewax and borax and have never had a seperation problem.

Maybe it's the amounts used?

I opened my coconut oil to find a clear oil in the middle and a hard

white substance coating the bottle. Shaking it does not cause it to

blend.

What should I do?

If it's cold in your area, try to place it in a warm room and observe after a

couple of hours.

My kitchen is almost always hotter than 80F. Sometimes it get up to

100 in summer, but is generally 85-95 in hot weather. Storing

coconut oil does not seem to harm the oil.

Hi-

This is a very late reply, but just in case you did not overcome the problem.

Your oil was starting to solidify, the temperature was probably around 75 F. The

oil at the wall of the bottle solidified first because the wall is colder than

the middle of the bottle. Warming the bottle will make it all oil. Or you can

allow it all to freeze and use frozen. It is only a physical change, there is no

nutritional or functional change.
