I may go to an every other day eating approach. I've been doing sub

1500 calories for 2 months now and haven't lost a pound. I'm about

30% body fat and would like to get it under 10%. I'll have to try sub

1000 to see if that works and that would be easier if I skipped some

days.

: going as low as 1000 cal a day is not recommended. It's

starvation/anorexia mode. Lower your calories slowly. There's a large

amount between 1500 and 1000. Try 100 cal a day less at a time. Also two

months is a very short time.

There are people in the group who can tell you they're sorry they

compromised their health by eating too little or not enough nutrients.

BTW you gave us no info about yourself. Are you male or female? How tall

are you? Etc.

The only way I've been able to separate the concepts is that too many calories at one meal may induce more bacteria in the small intestine if the meal is not completely digested. But in our low calorie diets, we eat as much in a day as some eat in a meal. I don't see the diff in 1800 versus 1/2 of 1800 or 1/3 of 1800. I find brkfst a very easy meal to duck, especially if I ate late the day before.

The concept of blood sugar swings implies that the system doesn't respond fast enough to handle the BS. I'll allow they can measure it and space their glys to keep it as stable as possible for whatever reason.

I eat a 300-350 kcals for brkfst, and a main meal at lunch, then a snack for supper, just to keep the stomach contents low at bedtime.

Regards.

Subject: [ ] How often should I eat?

I recently stumbled across a paper outlining plans to do a calory restriction study on monkeys. It stated that the monkeys were to be fed twice a day, early mourning and early aftenoon. i.e 2 meals a day. We're told that 3 meals a day is the norm. Some people on diet are told to eat 7 times a day, I read an article saying that Barry Bonds (MLB player) eats 6 times a day. I dont know how often one should eat, I guess it is up to the individual. Some people seem to prefer eating lunch and dinner, while other can sometimes manage on 1 meal a day (If it needs to).If your the type of person who wants to eat a fixed amount of calorie per day (as oppose to fixing your calorie consumption for the week). You might want to be divide your meals in small amounts. I was reading somethings about glycemic index and how it affects blood sugar. Basically the more you eat at one time the more it affects your blood sugar. By lowering the portion of food at one time and eating more frequently you better control your blood sugar, there by avoiding things like severe hunger pains. Dont get me wrong, you might still feel hungry but alot less then say eating only 3 times or twice a day. I am currently trying to consume at most 360 calories at one time and eating every 3 hours or so. Meaning I eat for the first 12 hours of my day and nothing afterwards. I will keep posted on this.

I'm a runner. I have always gone through periods of starvation in the

Spring to get down to running weight. This year I decided to use CR

to get my weight down since it was an experiment that I had wanted to

try anyways and I thought it would be healthier. It failed miserably.

It's late March and I need to lose at least 25 pounds in the next

couple months.

Losing weight quickly is also unhealthy. You may be a runner, and you may

have " always " done this but that doesn't mean it's a healthy thing to do.

Might be easier to buy a treadmill or join a gym or participate in some other activity and keep active during the winter, unless you like fasting....
