Guest guest
Hi Rodney, Notice it says "high intake". We need some omega-3, not much - 1 tbls of soy oil. I think the prostate drs are rising against the use of flax oil, which was used in some therapies in the past (Europe). Go to http://www.phcagroups.org/grwelcom.htm and ask Dr Snuffy Myers of Virginia. There has been a multitude of discussion about oils. He's a Dr that has PCa. The last I heard was his rec is to avoid flax oil and fish oil, and eat the fish. http://www.prostateforum.com/aidp.htm Eating Your Way to Better Health-The Prostate Forum Nutrition Guide http://www.prostateforum.com/nutrition.htm Regards. ----- Original Message ----- From: Rodney Sent: Tuesday, March 30, 2004 6:50 PM Subject: [ ] Re: Alpha-linolenic Acid/Heart Disease Hi Dennis:Not that I am aware of. I got that information by email directly from one of the investigators at the Physicians Health Study. As close to verbatim as possible it said: ".......... there are now several studies which show a link between high intake of alpha-linolenic acid, or high blood levels of it, and prostate cancer". He then went on to say that they wondered if it might be related to the animal products that contain it, but they didn't yet know. This is the reason why, if I am using an oil of some kind, I usually use safflower oil which contains negligible quantities of it. Canola oil and soybean oil contain considerable quantities.Rodney.
