Guest guest
Is taking inulin better than taking probiotics or do you need to take both??? SeaLady You might want to check out the research that showed inulin, an indigestible soluble fiber that also feeds good bowel bacteria so improves digestion, also reduces glucose swings, protects the liver, and improves lipid levels. I've been supporting diabetics and people with bowel disorders for years with it. Flax doesn't accomplish all that, yet there's more, with references, here on this science page: <http://tinyurl.com/2m29z> http://tinyurl.com/2m29z (Nix the oatmeal; it's fulla carbs) Aout the thread " carbs in whey " , remember some of those sugars are essential to life; whey contains three glyconutrients, and the lactose trace won't pose a problem if you have inulin in your diet. Inulin has eliminated lactose intolerance in the research and in practice
Guest guest
SeaLady, you can get probiotics that are microblended with whole foods which provide inulin in the same capsule. Guest guest
Inulin feeds healthy gut bacteria, so they proliferate. I take both probiotics and prebiotics (inulin) which make for much fluffier bowel movements. Guest guest
What brand(s) do you recommend? And where is it offered? -richard- --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Make your homepage.
Guest guest
I like NOW brand inulin which I buy from Vitaglo http://www.vitaglo.com/2944.html Free shipping if order totals $50 or more, so I always put together a big order rather than ordering just one or two items. Guest guest
Any other brands? How about Chicolin (Wolfe Clinic). sol Alobar wrote: > I like NOW brand inulin which I buy from Vitaglo > http://www.vitaglo.com/2944.html > Free shipping if order totals $50 or more, so I always put together a > big order rather than ordering just one or two items. >
Guest guest
I know nothing about brands I do not use. NOW is low in non-fiber carbs which is important to me as a diabetic. I have not explored alternative sources. Alobar On 1/21/08, sol <solbun@...> wrote: > Any other brands? Guest guest
I just read on another list, an article about NOW, Vitaminshoppe, Jarrow and other large companies being part and parcel fo the push for tighter restrictions on vitamins, etc. I don't like that at all, though I have always liked NOW and Jarrow products. I'd like to find alternative products from smaller companies, who are not part of the NPA. If I can't find substitutes, I'm not sure how I will decide if I will continue purchasing from the big guys or not. sol Alobar wrote: > I know nothing about brands I do not use. Guest guest
Per the discussion and the info I looked up and on Duncan's page - all of the probiotics I have bought do not have all of the right kind in them - I asked at the health food store if I should also buy inulin and she said the probiotic I had was good. But it doesn't have the " B " type of bacteria in it - forgive me but there is no hope of me spelling that word!! Lol So there is a type of probiotic that has both in it??? Are you referred to a specific brand??? I tried to read each and every brand that they had. SeaLady SeaLady, you can get probiotics that are microblended with whole foods which provide inulin in the same capsule. Carol
Guest guest
Try MEGA FLORA it has 14 strains. I use it specially when my stomach grumbles. Together with this I also take Quantum Digest for enzymes. Both and staying away from acidic food has helped me a lot. My doc gave me AcipHex. Oh boy, when i looked that med up the FDA page said: '99.98% of radioactive was excreted in the urine of (mice). Huh, radioactive? I did not take that medicine and just used the above.
