Guest guest
In July I fractured my fibula and the othropedic doctor recommended a titanium piece of metal with screws be surgically implanted. I had the surgury July 29th. I have to be non weight bearing on my right foot for 6 to 8 weeks. September 1st completed the 5th non weight bearing week. I am writing from the hospital September 1st I had a complication.. pulmonary embolism ..MASSIVE EMBOLISM, WITH INFARCTIONS.. and involving both lungs. The doctor will not permit me to use coconut oil.( coconut oil or any supplements, or anti oxidents ( fish oil, cod liver oil) He does not recommend coconut oil when I leave the hospital, as " you dont know whether it has vitamin K in it. " And he doesnt recommend taking any extra vitamin K..since I am now stuck taking levenox something, and coumidan, both blood thinners, for 6 months to let my body dissolve away the embolisms. My heart is being monitored constantly. The right side is working harder to push blood into the lungs to oxygenate it.Consequently it is slighly larger now. Shortly after I took out a small container of coconut oil and rubbed it on my dry face, the monitor warned that I had 18 tycardich movements or whatever they call it. That set off a huge alarm and everyone ran into the room to see if I was still alive. I wondered if the coconut oil could have made that happen? I also would like to know if coconut oil contains vitamin K? As Vitamin K opposes and interferes with blood thinners like coumidan. I want to be able to use coconut oil again. I have been eating it in food and taking 3 giant sized Tablespoons of it regularly for 10 months. NOW..my health is compromised... not due to the coconut oil..I have come to depend on coconut oil for many reasons. Yet should I fear going back to using it? My hospital/heart doctor said I probably cannot sustain and live through a second pulmonary embolism..My other doctor said if I had a second embolism and lived, I would be on coumidan for life.. Anybody out there know whether coconut oil is dangerous when taking coumidan? Is it dangerous to a compromised ( possibly temporarily) heart? Thanks for any information you might be able to contribute.
