Guest guest
Way back when I was in college, the Phys. Ed. instructor in one of our exercise classes had us do a relaxation exercise at the end of the class. It never fails to work. Lying on your back, bend the knees until they are at a comfortable angle; move the feet apart a little and let the knees support each other. Fold your arms over your chest up near your chin; r-e-l-a-x. In this position, breathe slowly and regularly then think of yourself as a sandbag full of sand. You have small holes in the bag at the end of each toe and your heel; 'feel' the sand slowly sifting out of the holes. Move up to small holes at the base of you buttocks and shoulders; again, 'feel' the sand slowly sifting out of the holes as your body gets limp. Next feel it sift out of holes at your elbows and finger tips, then finally the back of your skull. Remain relaxed and using slow, controlled breaths for a further period of time, then roll over and see if you can't fall asleep. Quiet, contemplative music helps this process along, too. I think I need to go to bed now. G'night
