Guest guest
Hi folks: My recollection is that in BT120YD Dr. Walford recommended taking two brazil nuts a day to ensure sufficient selenium. Here are a few numbers on that issue: The selenium RDA appears to be 55 mcg. The 'Institute of Medicine', whoever they are, suggests a 'tolerable upper intake' of 400 mcg. The average brazil nut contains about 110 mcg. So two of them supply nearly four times the RDA, and in addition you are consuming more from the food you eat. It seems that on average I get a little more than the RDA from my food. On the other hand the RDA may be too low. In any event it seems to me, fwiw, that one nut a day plus what I get in food should be more than enough. http://www.cc.nih.gov/ccc/supplements/selen.html#rda http://snipurl.com/4w1x Rodney.
