Guest guest
Well JW: I do not disagree with your thoughts, but according to the Audit Bureau of Circulations the Monday to Friday edition of the Washington Post has a paid circulation of 782,090. Presumably if they pay for it they do expect at least to check what is on the front page. Two hundred out of 782,090 is a 0.00026 response rate. Guest guest
Well, I'm familiar with how the audit bureau works and how newspapers work to keep up the "circulation". That value determines how much they charge for an ad. But I can also tell you that many people don't even pick up the average paper each morning. Of course a lot of people work, travel to work, and don't have the time. Sure, they read it on the train maybe. But whether they respond to it is something else. I first heard of CR on the TV at 3AM, about 1982. I'm sure many people saw that blurb, yet very few, including me, paid much attention to it. There was no cr societies then, I think, certainly no inet the public could use. I'm also familiar with sending out mail ads, and even for popularly known companies the response is maybe 1 in 10,000. So 2.6 is a pretty good response, especially for the time allowed. Bear in mind the newspapers are coming up to summer when circ falls off, and any story that excites some will maybe cause the circ to level. I would expect, if folks are inclined the post may want additional stories to keep it going. If Fran, et all, are really interested in the exposure, they should get ready for providing more stories in the Post. Fran could become the CR editor for the post. "CRing with Francesca". I like it. Guest guest
At one point in my life I read the Washington post in addition to NYT and WSJ, talk about getting the full story... these days I just read one (WSJ) and apply windage :-) to impute other viewpoints. First I applaud Francesca for effectively communicating an inclusive and moderate view of this work in process we call CRON. While moderation is rarely newsworthy we must take advantage of this 15 minutes of fame stay on message, namely nutrition first, then calories, then less calories. This is not a diet it is just a sensible lifestyle. Years from now, it will be common knowledge how harmful over consumption is, until then we must attempt to communicate the sure but quiet loss of time that we suffer from eating those extra servings. While mysterious that what seems so obvious to us is still obscure or foreign to the general population, life is one continuous stream of distractions and the general public doesn't usually asses their dietary practice until some health issues reaches out and shakes them. The good news is that CRON is universally good for the vast majority of lifestyle related maladies. Live long and well... But it is also a sobering reminder of how deeply entrenched the country's health problems are. What is the total circulation of the Washington Post? There is a front page article saying there is enough serious evidence that CR can greatly improve health and lifespan for the NIH to start a test in three major cities to study it.Yet only a couple of hundred people are interested enough to even take a look????? That is shocking, unless we see a couple of hundred thousand more new members before the end of the week.Seriously.Rodney. ________________________________________________________ This email has been scanned by Internet Pathway's Email Gateway scanning system for potentially harmful content, such as viruses or spam.
