Guest guest
At the gym they have a "body flow" class that I go to. Sort of a mostly yoga class, I have not done it long enough to know if it is good or bad or indifferent. I recommend the yoga tape, "Yoga for weight loss", not because yoga is good for that but because the tape is a good introductory yoga class that would be good for someone starting up again, and a tape fits into everyone's schedule. positive Dennis Francesca Skelton wrote: I've decided to take up yoga again. I used to do yoga but as with many things it fell by the wayside a few years ago. Everything I always hear about it is postive for health, mind, emotions, flexibility, staying young etc. There's a daily tv program here that I can "yoga" to or tape if I'm not here to see it. Anyone else here a yoga devotee? What about pilates or tai chi? Any opinions pro or con would be welcomed. We also have some meditators in the group who claim health benefits from that. Guest guest
I do yoga (Iyengar) because it helps me feel more comfortable in my daily life; strength and flexibility are wonderful to have and I don't think we keep them as we age without using them. I don't believe I will live longer because of it, but I know already that my quality of life is enhanced. Happy to share more on request :-) Angie > Anyone else here a yoga devotee? Guest guest
I am beginning Tai Chi classes again after a few weeks break. I took a six-weeks class and loved it. The movements are deceptively aeorobic, which is surprising, since they are very gentle and non stressful. After the first session, I was surprised at how I could feel unused muscles in my thighs and shoulders and arms. It is a very energizing routine, both spiritually and physically. I highly recommend you trying it. The Y in your community probably has classes. dori
Guest guest
I just joined this CR group and saw your posting. I've been practising Vinyasa (aka Power Yoga) for 2 years now and highly recommend it. I started my practise to improve upper body strength and balance but have found many more benefits. My joga instructor suggests that people commmit (to themselves) to 10 classes before evaluating the benefits. Ten weeks is sufficient time to learn the terminology that the instructor uses and to work out the kinks that can be bothersome when one begins yoga. > I've decided to take up yoga again.
