Guest guest
" Dear Mr fife, I need your candid explanation on this issue. My husband traveled to two neigbouring countries and purchased some coconut oil. the one from Togo was added some salt as a form of preservative. i would love to know if salt has any positive or negative effect on it. Can it be use on the skin and the hair? " Lawrita, I have never heard of a manufacturer adding salt to coconut oil as a preservative. Salt should not be needed. Perhaps the oil was " home-made " and therefore, of low quality and contained a high moisture content. The higher the moisture content the shorter the shelf life. So maybe the salt was added to extend shelf life. This would be unnecessary with a good quality oil. It should be fine to use on the skin and hair, but I would question using it for cooking. Salt usually makes oil spatter. " What is the dosage for a pregnant women in the second trimester? " I recommend 2-4 tablespoons a day.
